But before you get to see that Doctor you can be dead.

Bullshit. 100% bullshit as a matter of fact.

You may experience discomfort while waiting, but you certainly will not wait if your condition is seriouse.

I've done time in a Canadian hospital (broken neck, shattered shoulder, fucked up ribs, bruised lung, etc etc) and I have nothing critical or negative to say about it.

lol!!!! Really how old are you? Where are you from? And when did this occur? If you don't mind me asking.

Your answer, on getting hurt seems to be lacking information.

Sammy...

Anyways, to get this topic BACK on track, the reason why I think Canadians are healthier than Americans (and indeed, the British) is because we have more active lifestyles. I know for me growing up, I was outside ALL the time, I was fishing, camping, mountainbiking, hiking, I was outside all the time, with friends and my family. The Great Outdoors! I can't speak for anyone else, but I think Canadians are healthier because we're not propped up in front of playstations and nintendos to the extent that most kids are these days. As for adults, working long hours just tires you out to the extent that you can't be arsed to do anything but be a couch potato at home.

So that's my two cents on it!

I have to agree with dimoreien most american citizens don't care about having an active lifestyle i'll admit we're lazy and would rather sit on our asses all day eating junk food and watching tv.

I think alot of it has to do with how much the doctors care about seeing their paitents and how well the health insurance covers medications and surgery's.

One of the things that blew my mind when I first got in Canada was the sheer amount of fat people. People so fucking fat they have to keep their back bent backwards while walking, otherwise they'd fall over. Fatter than any fatso I ever saw in Holland apart from maybe one or two exceptions in a lifetime. Hell it started in the airplane when I saw a couple in first class and thought to myself:"they'll never ever fit in the regular chairs unless there'd be a stewardess with a chainsaw to cut them out again". Anyway, I was just thankful they were sitting in the middle and not to one of the sides. Hell, just the other day I had too wait considerable time at Tim Hortons because some fat lump of lard HAD to fill an entire large box of donuts and other pastries, which no doubt would be finished as a pre-dinner snack.

I think the rates just favor Canadians a bit more than Americans because pretty much any Canadian HAS healthcare, which can't be said for 47 million Americans.

Maybe the headline should be:"Canadians a bit less unhealthy than Americans".
