Without a doubt Canada has greate skating talent all around. However, Tanith isn't just trying to make the U.S. team... she wants to win a medal.

Well, I'll violate everyone's sense of propriety and say that I've always thought the athletes should compete on an individual basis, not on annational team basis.
Right! Especially since the end of the cold war, we do love the athletes regardless of where they come from. Most of the chauvinism is now coming from some of the asian nations like Korea (speed skating). And we were all pulling for Canadians Jamie Sale and David Pelletier at the 2002 Olympics because they were the best.
Nevertheless...It is significant that Tanith feels that there is more opportunity by competing as an American. Maybe if she had a nice Canadian stud to be her partner she would skate for Canada?
