Because people reading through 5 pages of replies in a thread might miss a link. And this link sort of changes everything about the subject.

I hope PM Harper pressures Bush to have the soldiers who fire the shots charged with endangerment and make them pay the Canadian gov't for damage to the vehicle and publically apologize to the diplomats, the CDN gov't, and Canadians.

Thanks for posting that - I didn't feel like reading through 5 pages of pokey-chest and people quoting people that were playing pokey-chest.

It's an interesting article and sheds more light than the original. Still seems like a game of "he said, she said" until the investigation is complete.

I think the real problem is the U.S. Military procedures, or the implementation of those procedures.....This is not an isolated incident....It's apparently pretty common.....I saw a documentary where a U.S. Soldier in a tank blew up a car with an entire Iraqi family in it because they didn't stop while driving down a highway......When he realized what he did he burst into tears....

Remember the Italian security agent who was shot by Americans a few months ago right after freeing a hostage held by Iraqi Insurgents?

They need examine their procedure for warning before shooting, or their training, or whatever because their system doesn't work.....

When you're driving what do you think would happen if you were looking at the hands of someone on the side of the road? You'd probably drive into a telephone pole....

They should be using sirens, or something loud that catches people's attention.........

What's all this about who's to blame? It's simple...it's a combat zone...expect to be fired upon. Who cares what colour it is.

The only question I have on this is where is Harper? He sure was quick to hit a home run off of Wilkins last week on the Arctic sovereignty issue but hasn't said anything at all about this.

Sure, expect to be fired on by your enemies. Kind of hard to do your work when you can't trust your colleagues. And why are they making up false press releases??

It's obviously a problem. If Americans started to admit problems and address them instead of pretending they don't exist they would do a lot better in a lot of things.....Iraq in general is a perfect example of that....

The so-called War on Terror should be called Factory of Terror, since terrorism has gone up like 1000% because of it....but that's for another thread I guess...

So you believe the diplomats over the soldiers? (actually a question, not rhetoric.)

On CBC Newsworld today he said that the Privvy Council is talking to the Americans on it, and the Privvy Council is keeping him informed.....

I think after he's sworn in he'll have more to say....and he'll probably want to wait until a Canadian investigation has taken place before saying something definitive...

So you believe Americans over Canadians?

And it was actually not soldiers who said anything. The US Army is the same as the Canadian Army in that soldiers are definately not allowed to talk to the press without supervision......

It would have been a Media Relations Officer who talked to the press, and I don't think you would consider them a soldier.....

A media relations officer is pretty much a politician, and your sig explains what you think of them....
