Yes, another American running capitalist dog ( a little commie rhetoric, ha na... I miss it so...) is giving it all away. God Bless his soul.
http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/25/magazin ... tm?cnn=yes
Ted Turner gave away over $100 million, Bill Gates is giving away billions. And now Warren Buffet.
So, are there any other folks from the Industrialized Nations, Canada, Europe, Japan, etc. that have this ethic? How about all those wealthy Arabs? The Sultan of Brunei?
Enough of the money will probably go to American interests, but much will go out to the world to fight disease epidemics. To make the world a better place.
Americans Rock! ...and keep on rocking.
Of course, I guess a socialist society... performs the same thing by not letting the Capitalist Running Dogs get their hands on the money in the first place. Of course they don't produce much either.
Let's hear it from the Socialist!

figfarmer figfarmer: I want about $300,000.00 so I can devote my life to my art. .... 300 artworks at $1,000 apiece. Yes, you will be a contributor in no time. Get painting! $1: Bill Gates spent alot of time looking to Canada for inspiration.
Looks like they have the right idea.
American, Howard Hughs set up the Howard Hughs Medical Institute, a research outfit, mostly as a tax shelter, then he died. That research org now has an endowment of about $13 billion. They can do research without the politics. What a deal!
Maybe we are doing well because these folks make a difference. I think the applied use of wealth and resources is an extremely interesting topic. I have had this theory that if we just setup each newborn with a college endowment of $1,000, with about a 15% return, that funding college wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to Warren Buffet and others like him we can finally get the socialist/communist groups to shut the hell up and take their ridiculous ideology elsewhere. Socialism/communism and democracy are flawed. Accept it people.

I can still recall the moronic communist gent I met at a club one night. How we got to taling about politics I can never recall but he pointed out he was a communist. He had long hair in a ponytail, educated at Ryerson and walked around in flip-flops at a club. Oh but I was certainly surprised to discover he was a communist. NOT!
As we went on with our politics, he became enraged to discover that I was a fascist. He kept yelling 'Hitler'. I simply whispered in a calm voice 'Stalin, Mao'. This enraged him further as he knew exactly what I was getting at. Then he went on about how wealth in Canada needs to be redistributed. I asked him who was going to be doing this redistribution. He said if communists ran the country they would be doing so. I asked him what gave the communists the right to distribute money that did not belong to them? He then went on a diatribe about how people such as Bill Gates became wealthy off the backs of the Canadian worker. I told him he was wrong. Bill Gates gained his wealth through his own ingenuity. The worker had nothing to do with it and that Marx would not apply here. An idea does not require labour provided by the worker. It is a solitary function. He freaked out and stated that Bill Gates was worth $6 billion. I told him actually he is worth far, far more. He then stated no one has the right to that kind of money when the rest of the world is starving. I asked him 'says who? He earned it.' This guy was clearly losing his cool. He said Canada should have a communist revolution like the October Revolution in Russia. I asked him how many people he wanted to kill in order to achieve his goals of communist domination in Canada. By this time he was frothing at the mouth. I was clearly making this guy look like an idiot. He was ranting and raving whilst I remained calm and collected.
There is an example of a communist vs. a fascist little boys and girls. Take the lesson to heart. Fascism is clearly superior.

'Seig Heil'? Only Nazis used that salute. I am not a Nazi. There is a difference. I am simply a Canadian who believes fascism as a political ideology would benefit Canada greatly.

Well ... I may have to counter myself a little. Jackie Chan is also giving away millions.
- This isn't getting a whole lot of press. But I am thrilled that Jackie Chan has taken this leadership role to expand on charity in China. Traditionally, the oriental notiion of charity is that which is confined within family circles. The Chinese are finally accepting the notion of adoption, which they had previously feared would mess up their family lines.
- This is on top of the fact that Jackie is actively supporting charitable causes through his Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation.
I already liked Jackie Chan, now I am awed.
$1: Jackie Chan Gives His Fortune to Charity
Associated Press
HONG KONG -- Jackie Chan announced Wednesday he has bequeathed half of his fortune to charity, saying he looks up to philanthropists like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates.
Chan disclosed the terms of his will when asked about tycoon Warren Buffett's recent $37-billion US donation at a news conference on a tiger conservation campaign.
Buffett said he'd give away the bulk of his stock holdings in the company he runs, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., with five-sixths of the shares earmarked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the fund set up by the Microsoft chairman and his wife.
"I admire the efforts by Buffett and Gates to help those in need a lot," Chan said. "Like Buffett and Gates, I want to help people, but I don't have as much money as they do."
The 52-year-old action star said the portion of his fortune reserved for charity would go to his own Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation, which was launched in 1988 to help needy Hong Kong youngsters but has since branched out into disaster relief, medical donations and supporting the performing arts.
The exact amount that the fund would receive remains unknown, because Chan refused to disclose his net worth.
Comparable stars make millions each year, according to estimates. Will Smith earned $25 million US in the period from June 2005 to June 2006, and Jennifer Anniston made $18 million, Forbes magazine has reported.
Chan's earnings may be lower because he primarily works out of Asia, where pay levels are generally lower in the entertainment industry.
A significant source of Chan's income comes from his Hollywood films like the Rush Hour series. The actor has said he can fund entire movies made in Hong Kong with his Hollywood paycheques.
His last Hollywood film was Around the World in 80 Days, released in 2004, but Chan is due to start filming Rush Hour 3 late this summer.
Earlier this year, Forbes named Chan one of the world's 10 most generous celebrities.
As for the remaining 50 per cent of his wealth, Chan said his wife may get 25 per cent but the amount wasn't fixed. Chan also has a son, actor-singer Jaycee.
Wednesday's press conference aimed to raise awareness of the endangered South China tiger, which now numbers fewer than 100. Chan has filmed a video for the cause in which his face is painted in yellow and black stripes. "Tigers are the king of animals and are very beautiful, Chan said Wednesday.
