ridenrain ridenrain:
Layton has been quite clear that he wanted to withdraw Canadian troops from Afghanistan and send them to Darfur.

Canadian troops have no reason to be fighting a losing war in Afghanistan as America's auxiliary pee-on. Sending them to Darfur is no doubt a silly idea since the only people who can fix up that problem are the people who actually live in the region. If they want to kill themselves, so be it.

$1:
The last times the west sent troops in was Rwanda and Somolia, and both didn't work out like we expected.

Of course not, it never does, usually because there's an ulterior reason for being there that the people who are being "saved" don't agree with, such as with what's really going on in Iraq and Afghanistan.

$1:
Sudan has oil and is now selling that to the Chinese, who support the genocide in Darfur and many of the tyrants in Africa.

Did you say oil, and the USA does not have it? Well, that's the reason why we do hear about the mess in that region, otherwise it would not make the news at all.

$1:
I definately believe that China os doing no good there.

You are right, the Chinese are no doubt not helping to make things better. Any "mission" into the region will be to secure the oil and kick out the Chinese, so it won't be a good war for the people who live there as it'll be mostly them who'll get slaughtered in the process. The people will lose no matter who wins.

People like Layton are either idealistic fools, or just pandering for votes in however way they can. Politicians are all alike - slimy and very slippery.

Since the African union dosen't want western troops there, what do you propose the UN do?
Should we do a Dion and invade?

Please refresh my memory of a UN mission in that area that didn't end up with a genocide or a bloody mess.

The Suez unit that was there in the late 50s did okay

Thats the only one in recent memory.

The other side of the story is that the girls father rammed the protester with the wheelchair - while his daughter was sitting in it. Nice one Dad, real nice.

Oh, and what's with the lefty bullshit? The idealogical synchrony of left vs right is pure fantasy, designed to create opposing sides where none actually exist.

In order to listen to the likes of the Bush's one has to be "loony" in more ways than one, like brainwashed minions in a cult that worship a false prophet who exploits them.

Where did you get that detail?
I'm not sure if that's even close to self defence in any case.

NY Post Smears Activist For "Wheelchair Assault"

$1:
Eyewitness Dianne Lipson told this website that John Lovetro made aggressive gestures towards Talis, cocking and waving his fist, before pursuing Talis into the side of a building.

Lovetro began punching Talis repeatedly as Lovetro's wife begged him to stop and the girl in the wheelchair began crying.

"The man punched Gary over and over again," states Lipson, adding, "From what I observed, the man who assaulted Gary was looking for a fight, and he actually exploited his physically challenged daughter, steering her wheelchair toward Gary, in order to fabricate an excuse to physically vent his anger."

Lipson attempted to submit a witness statement to police but was ignored.

The eye witnesses and security videos that must have captured the assault will be a great defense.

Ok. I'm not going to take something from Prison Planet as gospel. That's just a bit too one sided for me. I'm not sure of the other one either..

If you get one from a legitimate newspaper, then I'd listen. Right now this looks way too flakey.

All US democratic institutions are "anti-Bush" since he will soon be forced to leave his position.
