If Iraq is all about oil then it is an abject failure.
It's about consolidating power and generating a profit for those who manufactured the war. In terms of profitability, the war has been a brilliant success. In terms of consolidating power, it's thankfully been a dismal failure.
Just because something has failed does not mean that it was not attempted with success in mind.

Yes but all sales are in US dollars - unlike what's now going on in Iran, the next biggest target for war. The whole point is to make sure that oil is selling in US dollars rather than in someone else's currency.

As far as the US leadership is concerned, "foreign policy" is a euphemism for "How to steal as much as possible from your neighbors and stop them from doing the same.". To be fair, that's the same definition used by the leadership of just about any country, although few have the means to go as far as what the US has been able to do.
