Anti-capitalist cafe closes down after only a year due to, well, lack of capital.....

https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2023/0 ... e-closing/

$1:
One polarizing coffee shop in Toronto is set to officially close its doors at the end of the month.

The Anarchist, located at 190 Jarvis Street, describes itself as an "anti-capitalist, anti-colonial cafe, shop and radical community space on stolen land."

The coffee shop first opened up back in March 2022 and offers all the beverages and baked goods you'd expect to find at a cafe, with a side of radical books, art, stickers, jewelry, clothing, and tote bags.

"I hope by openly declaring the business as anti-capitalist I can motivate people to think and ask about what that means, and let those who are already anti-capitalists of one kind or another know that this is a place for them, where their politics, ideas, and identities will always be welcome," owner Gabriel Sims-Fewer previously told blogTO.

Sims-Fewer uploaded a bittersweet message to the cafe's website this week announcing the shop's closure.

False advertising from the start. If it had been truly anti-capitalist then it simply would have given away all its products for free, and the owner/employees would have refused a wage. Maybe they should have put in an appeal for government funding instead as I'm sure their clientele firmly believes that all coffee shops should be nationalized anyway. These assholes and the sewage they believe in.....

Much easier and safer to cheer on the revolution from multiple thousands of kilometers away while sitting in a plush chair & drinking coffee on the evenings when the cafe features some kind of proletarian poetry slam.

Scape Scape:

If you steal from your employer, the employer calls the cops. If your employer steals from you, you have to launch a civil case in hopes of getting it back.

In those magical places where The People (tm) rule, where the state is the sole employer or where companies & corporations are little better than arms of the state, none of the employees dare say anything at all when they get robbed by the bosses and treated as little better than slaves. Because if they do speak up they usually find out first hand what happens to the "malcontents, agitators, & asocials" who try to defend themselves. There's more than enough holes in the ground in those kind of places waiting to be filled up with the remains of anyone who complained too much.

At least here you can accept the defeat and move on to something else. There's lots of other places even doing that isn't an option.
