I'm sitting on an Island (Darlings Island) about 20 minutes outside of Saint John. Getting myself educated in SJ for now, Fredricton next fall.

Ps. You guys should hit up the Cherry Brook Zoo.

Hi, I am from NB but left there 5 times since age 25. I have done the Ontario thing, the BC thing, returned to NB for 5 years (til July) and it is worse than ever for jobs and living standards. It is resembling the 3rd world in cities such as Saint John. Too bad the Liberals wouldnt pay more attention to this matter. Instead of focusing on bringing immigrants with skills, what about either making employment in NB for new brunswickers so that we can feel we are part of canada. We have been forgotten, it is very sad.

I moved to alberta in July with a partner and this whole floor in our building is from nova scotia or new brunswick. The guy from sussex just moved away for another job. He brought up his sister and her hsuband and they never made more than minimum wage in NB now they are making 27.00 an hour between them and their boss helped them get a house here in Hinton because they didnt want to lose them. At one point they lived out of a cabin that was 100 dollars a day (again the nice employer paid for this too!!)- due to no housing here.

I would say that pretty soon, alberta will have more east coast people than albertans. Edson which is the next town over- is 30% newfies (that is what makes it such a great place to visit).

Sad to say that albertans (some ) are prejudice though. If you live here for 25 years, they still call you an 'outsider". I laugh and think- I am a 16th generation canadian , what right do you have to say I cant live anywhere in Canada that I please, after all, my ancestors build this darn country- starting in the east, working west!!!

We have been forgotten, it is very sad. When you think of the millions spent on foreignors to come live in canada, why not try to help the actual canadians who are living here for a change.

At one point they lived out of a cabin that was 100 dollars a day (again the nice employer paid for this too!!)- due to no housing here. In NB all the employers want to pay you is minimum wage or just above and alot of them get writeoffs from the government to hire workers. What comes around, goes around. Now their kids will have to leave for greener pastures to obtain work too and they will have to pay out thousands of dollars to relocate their kids.

I would say that pretty soon, alberta will have more east coast people than albertans. Edson which is the next town over- is 30% newfies (that is what makes it such a great place to visit).

It was the same for me in Newfoundland, only they call us job stealers from "Away". Every province in Canada has it's quirks, one just has to hang in there and ignore the regional bigotry.

Yes, hang in there til your rent doubles in 1 year from 650 to 1300, then what??? The whole rest of canada has ZERO jobs. THere are 60,000 people moving here from other provinces to Edmonton by the end of March. Wonder where they will live??

Sure, lots of jobs and money. Gotta have those. but every time i'm in Calgary, I can't wait to get home to New Brunswick. I couldn't stand living in a dry desert where all the land is fenced off to ranches and farms. I missed the woods and streams, the peace and quiet. I must be old, eh?

Loved the mountains out by Canmore last October, tho. Bro and I climbed mount lady macdonald. Great views, but it was hairy standing on the edge of a 1000-foot drop as I climbed up. One thing's for sure, you need truckloads of cash to live in Canmore.

I was a former resident of a little village in Kent County, New Brunswick for 12 years.

I still go there every year to be with my parents and family!!!

Nothing like the slow, quiet life there to recharge the ole batteries!!!!!!!!!
