Need more Canadian flags in the old city. New city is fine but lets get real here.

Canadian flags in the heart and pride of the separatist movement? Good luck.

raydan raydan:
They do say Québec City is the most European city in North America.
Since I haven't been to every city in North America, I can't confirm this. :D

Love the architecture too, a mix of French and British, and the old fortifications.
And as you can see on some of the photos, a lot of up and down walking.

Part 2 pics 4 and 5 are very typical of mainland European small or "Old Town" square. If no one told me I'd have said it was a pic from Europe.

Brenda is right about the difference between here and there though. I remember our fist trip back to Winnipeg after living in Germany for awhile. B

Even the modern European centres look cooler. Take Berlin for example

BTW we lived in the sloping balcony building, the Canadian Embassy is under the ballon, not finished yet in this picture.

I hope they do whatever it takes to keep Old Quebec like the way it is as its really a unique oasis in North America.

I totally agree with you, Benn. My old hometown "re-did" the squares and "modernize" them. What they did was take out the trees, demolish the old buildings and made it stone cold "squares" with a pond and 3 places to sit, and then were surprised the kids sprayed graffiti where ever they could. It was not cozy or attractive anymore.
They since changed it back, I was informed.

The old architecture is what makes Europe Europe (and Quebec city Quebec city) and should stay that way.

And once again ... not all Québecers are separatists.. and the current government is not.. so why go on about something you know little of. I visit many Canadian capital cities and I don't always see the Canadian flag flying..
get real!
