Been to several east Asian Malls...they're all different. Some are set up like Western shopping malls and other follow a more open market under one roof, like a traditional street market. The ones in Western Asia are the same.

Market vs Mall. The mall I'm referring to, (there are actually several) is in an enclave dominated by well off/wealthy Chinese. Many have signs only in Chinese and don't speak English, or won't. Yet a Chinese man claimed discrimination because a local McDonald's wouldn't/couldn't serve him in Mandarin.

We used to have a Chinatown - ie lower end Chinese stores and restaurants. Never ran into that sort of attitude there. Even if their English was limited, glad to help. It's the new, wealthy, Chinese that create these sorts of problems.

Actually, Canada has several mega-malls, most of which are larger than the Mall of America (rather ironically owned by Canadians), the largest of them being West Edmonton Mall (800 shops and services).
