ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
I was thinking all the stories born as a result of all the great conflicts fostered by religious differences.

Thank God for those differences. Living in a society run by a religion would be, like, hell on earth. :(

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
...and the makings of great epic movies and works of historical fiction

No question that religion has created great art. But the essence of religious freedom is that our society is not run by religious dogma.

I'm a catholic myself and to be honest with you when people say that we have our own "laws" the only thing that comes to mind is that if you want a divorce (annulment) the church pretty much insists you go to marriage counseling first. Even then getting an annulment from the church can be...

Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.

What the hell are they doing teaching religion in a public school? You learn religion from your parents, not your teachers.

Marital disputes? Not exactly a step forward for women's rights. Muslims in Britain should be able to live under Sharia, says top judge Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the Lord Chief Justice, strongly backed Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, over his suggestion earlier this year that a...

What about YOUR choice to keep your dick in your pants? ;-) I already covered this. Didn't you read? My spouse and I had our last kid a long time ago. Since then we engage in sexual practices where the fear of pregnancy is not present. If guys can't figure out how to do that perhaps it's time...

It's only controversial to the people who reject science and reason.

My tongue was tucked firmly in my cheek when I wrote it. After having been exposed to the "Intelligent Design" crowd I'm more than satisfied Darwin was right.

Well, it's now official. He has has been awarded the OC. Now let's see how many current recipients return theirs to the GG. Henry Morgentaler, the country's best-known abortion-rights crusader, has been named to the Order of Canada, the country's highest honour. Governor General Michaƫlle Jean on Tu...

Almost as controversial as Henry Morgentaler getting an OC. :( "It was almost a non-event when, on July 1, 1858, Darwin unveiled his theory of evolution," Keith Suter writes in The Daily Telegraph. It was the beginning of a scientific revolution and controversy that still rages today - to ...

Bodah Bodah:
Now Harper has to step in and clean this second string bureaucrat's clock. Idiots.

That would just politicize the process. This is not the first time this has come up. Harper should have let them know a long time ago to stay away from Morgentaler. The public will undoubtedly blame the PM for this.

Even ifyou agreewith abortion this is not appropriate to give a cheese dick this award. Soldiers who fought and died and famous people who contributed something great to Canada have accepted this award and this now cheapens everyone who actually deserved it. Shame Canada Shame! HAPPY CANADA DAY!!! ...

Great timing. Parliament not in session so the government doesn't have to answer questions in the House. But Harper - who will get loads of flack from his friends on the right - has cover. It is a committee who recommends to the GG not the PM who should be awarded the OC.

Got me on that one. How about the African Union? Thay are meeting right now in Egypt. Don't expect "sanctions". African leaders gathering for a summit have greeted President Robert Mugabe as a "hero", dashing hopes that Zimbabwe's regime would come under immediate international ...

Not every case heard by the HRC is drunk lesbians who hate comics. There are some very legitimate cases of racial and sexual discrimination. The big problem with HRCs really is not in dealing with discrimination - it's the misuse of "hate messages" laws that should not even be in human ri...
