It is truely amazing how we allow China to dump all this crap into the states basically duty-free and allow them to have 70-100% tarrifs on the stuff we are allowed to sell there. No wonder there is such a huge trade imbalance. Yet if we talk about raising tarrifs the World Trade Org threatens to ta...

I would rather have an ally that acts on my behalf because they belive that it is morally the right thing to do (Canada) and not one that blindly follows (Tony Blair). George Bush (yes, I admit, I voted for him. It was the lesser of two evils.) was facing a luke-warm presidency until 9-11. I doubt h...

I do want to move as well. I've grown to love Sask with a passion. I love the openness of the land as well as the people. Whenever we come back here from a visit, I feel clausterphobic. Too many trees and too little sky. The crime rate is so much lower up there. I love being able to let my kids run ...

My only concern about moving up there was whether or not I would have to get a greenhouse to grow okra. I've learned that there are a couple of varieties that will grow there on the south side of a house. Gotta have my fresh okra! The first summer I was up there I searched six grocery store chains b...

Hopefully, we will be moving in 6 years. Less if the stock market rebounds :) And if the exchange rate will slide back the other way a bit. (Not counting on either)! As far as the accents, I've always been good with accents and when I'm around a group of people for a bit I start talking like they do...

There is a huge diversity in cooking even here is SC. My dad's family is from the lower part of the state, lots of rice-based dishes. My mother's family is from the upper part of the state, lots of potatoes. Took a while to get used to eating the stuff my in-laws made. Too healthy! :) Nothing was ba...

LOL! I've thought about opening a southern-themed restaurant! Don't guess sweet ice tea will be a big mover though :) Will have you guys eating boiled okra, blackeyed peas, corn bread and red rice before you know it :) My wife's family asked her what the cooking style down here was like. She told th...

My wife and I actually met on the internet. We both had an interest in Dungeons and Dragons and were both on a roleplaying channel on IRC called DragonMystInn. We talked for two years before meeting face-to-face. We even got to where we were writing a letter a day every day (3-5 pages). We seemed to...

South Carolina is actually a nice state. We have everything from beaches on the Atlantic to the mountains of the Appalachains. My family has been here since the 1670's and I don't think any have ever left! I live in the "Piedmont" area of the state. The piedmont is full of rolling hills an...

Great site! Hope to be moving to Sask in 6 or 7 years (sooner would be better)! My wife is from Sask and we have two kids. I feel more at home up there than I do here! A much better way of life for the kids!

I am a father of two. My youngest is 19 months. If I had a two-story house, my windows would either be nailed shut or modified so that there would be no way for it to open enough for the head or torso of a child to fit through. It makes me sick every time I hear about a child being hurt or killed du...
