They're opening a museum of outmoded thought featuring the remains of extinct animals.

Hey, at least there's symmetry.

During the Election, that issue was address with this measure: That's not addressing the issue at all. Ban revealing clothing and then institute a buy back scheme. It's still blaming the victim. my sympathies will always lie with the families of the innocent victims. Other than the gun owners whose...

Delwin: When a gun is stolen and used in a shooting there are two victims. The person who got shot and the legal owner whose gun was stolen. Your solution to stolen handguns is to ban handguns, but that's nothing more than blaming the victim. You are trying to infringe on someone's well established ...

Personally, I deduce that these "active defense systems" would be murder on supporting infantry. When the system is used, there's already several, if not a hundred kilos of explosives already headed toward the armored vehicle. If this system reduces the chance of detonation (as it seems i...

Streaker Streaker:
I don't know about the whales, but these were Canadian waters.

Why is the US coast guard doing target practice in Canadian waters?!?

They probably rent it from us, like that torpedo range they use off Vancouver island.

You don't get to decide which laws you wish to obey, that mentality is criminal. All people decide which laws they get to obey if they're willing to live with the conciquences of disobeying those laws. The laws don't constrain anyone who doesnt want to be constrained. This is not a criminal attitud...

But you wouldn't be able to use them if they were stored underground, so what would be the point ? Just to spite the justice system ? It has to do with control over the gun, and I'm afraid the rule that is obeyed is 'there is no compromising with those who will not compromise'. If the federal govor...

Why even have law enforcement ? If we make something against the law people are just going to do it anyway. That's the thing. Those thing which people want to do, which do not impact anyone else should be legal. That's why prostitution is legal (in BC at least), that's why pot grown for personal co...

O.K. for the last time, the guns on the streets are stolen from Break-in and smuggled across the border. Of course if we eliminate both of those options as a source for drug dealers, they may all of a sudden, set up contacts with the Russians, Chinese, Space Aliens or whomever. You're assuming that...

Unblushingly false. What, exactally, is false? You didn't get to that part. Even by your own application of economic principle, one would have to argue that the extra cost of transportation would increase the street value of the handguns. The inflated prices will mean less consumption by any econom...

(words, words, words) That's ignoring the problem. Drugs are not dependant on local production any more than guns are. Cocaine, crack and heroin are all produce in distant parts of the world, but are available locally. Guns produced in China or Pakistan can be brought into Canada just as easily. Wh...

There are legitimate reasons to use a tank, but the use of tanks by ordinary citizens is surely illegal. It isn't. Milarm in Edmonton had a Ferret scout car. Everything but the guns (which you could put on yourself if you owned them). Tanks aren't illegal, they're just expensive. I'm talking about ...

Delwin Delwin:
So how many lives do we get to save while we isolate the source of the handguns ?

'Market' referes to the demand for illegal guns, not that there will be an actual market where they will be sold.

I don't see how someone could argue that banning handguns isn't going to save lives. Let's look at it this way: Total # of Gun crimes with Hand guns = Total # of Gun crimes with stolen weapons + Total # of Gun Crimes from smuggled weapons+ Legally owned See if we remove the # of Gun crimes from sto...

You know if you want a gun you can get a gun. I could go downtown right now and get one and if I can it is most likely gangs and drug lords can too. It is unlikely anyone is going to stop this. We can't beat them so let's let them do what they want ? That is exactly the type of defeatist attitude t...
