Forum: Current Events   Topic: Sweden closes four prisons as number of inmates plummets

I don't think the comparison between the U.S. and Sweden in terms of prison population yields any useful information. Somehow I don't think Sweden is rampant with ethnic gangs (I can't imagine too many Latinos move to Sweden). The Swedish model might work for Sweden but I doubt it can be applied an...

I'm a little late with this one but I haven't been on here much lately. This is another project that came along after the Names and Faces stuff. I've been working with Tonella for about a year now and we released an EP digitally in December. We recently had it printed as well for an upcoming mini-to...

What gets me most about this story is the fact it would never have hit the news if it was a $150,000 house in Elmwood. Yet we are supposed to care some rich chick has mice? I was so worried about this poor lady with the mice in her $1M house that I wasn't sure I'd be able to sleep tonight. There sh...

I personally don't have a problem with this. If a parent does not want their child to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies, it's up to them. We may not agree with their reasoning but it's their child, their choice.

I wouldn't call it vigilantism per se. Third party defence. I don't believe he intended to kill the guy but I can only imagine the kind of rage that takes over a father who sees something like this happening to his 4 year old daughter... in his own home?

Sixty per cent of those surveyed said they had no impression either way of the NDP leader. However, only 20 per cent had negative impressions of Mulcair — substantially fewer than the 48 per cent who had negative impressions of Harper. Mulcair: 19% positive to 20% negative. Harper: 28% positive to ...

OnTheIce OnTheIce:
4 year old news.

This story is colder than my grandmothers tit.

Although I DID chuckle at your analogy, are you suggesting that this investigation has been ongoing for 4 years?

But even the initial investment is based on projected demand and profit. And there ARE still independent and custom manufacturers in Canada producing many types of products, it wouldn't just be retail and sales growth.

That's rather simplistic, it's far more than that. You don't need to consume to create jobs. As I said earlier, providing financial baking in the way of investment also creates jobs. And is often what the "1%" are going to be doing. It's also very difficult to measure. Investors don't cre...

Yes... I got detention once because a bully stole my pencil. The teacher wouldn't believe me when I told her. He was nice enough to give it back to me after class though. Was he bigger than me? Not even close. More manipulative? Yes, and had a group of five others helping eachother in their bullying.

They tend not to report it because a) they won't be taken seriously b) they'll get it worse for telling and c) bullying is ongoing; they'd likely be telling the teacher about a new incident every few minutes only to have the teacher say, "Please behave boys" and not do anything serious abo...
