How do you come to the conclusion that Enduring Freedom was/is not sanctioned by the UN, specifically Resolutions 1378 (Nov 01), 1383 (Dec 01), 1368 (Sep 01), 1373 (Sep 01) and 1368 (Dec 01) and the most recent UNSCR 1707(Sep 06)? Exactly how would a "traditional" blue helmet be more effe...

Somebody has to create wealth for others to take advantage of, why make fun of them?

Which UN resolution restricts NATO to the north? Are you aware that the UN supported both Op Apollo (from Oct 01 to Oct 2003) and the current deployment (OP Athena)? I stand corrected. Canadian troops were part of the U.S. Enduring Freedom for the first part of last year but that has been rolled in...

The mortgage system in the states isn't set up to help homebuyers it's designed to make money for investors. The banks lend money there with the full expectation that 20% of borrowers will default on their loans and lose their homes.

I'm not sure if Canada is the same way.

The Taliban has always recuited out of Pakistan, there are millions of ethnic Afghanis living in western Pakistan. It was intially set up by the Pakistani military with the help of the CIA to fight the Soviets. Part of the problem with the mission is how it was set up. It's not U.N. mandated, only t...

The U.S. is going into a Presidential election next year and troop loses oversees are going to be the #1 issue. Which is where the problem arises. Is anyone going to run on a "bring our troops home" platform? More importantly, can such a platform win? It seems that even the democratic fro...

This will slow the economy over time as more and more people lose buying power.

The idea of talking to the Taliban is unpleasant but it might become neccessary. Don't underestimate how stubborn politicians can be. I mean, you're correct, but if we suddenly decide to take that course of action, we've wasted a lot of time and spilled a lot of blood. That won't go over very well....

The idea of talking to the Taliban is unpleasant but it might become neccessary. It's just been revealed that the U.S. government has reversed itself in Iraq and is now talking to Iranian and Syrian leaders they think are supporting the insurgents there. Mushariff in Pakistan has made agreements wit...

I try to go around the July 1st weekend when the Chinook run is peaking. I don't have much luck fishing, but the scenery is so nice I don't mind. You have to watch out for the bears though, the grizzlies chase the salmon fishers off sometimes.

Squamish is very nice too, the chief is impressive.

Bella Coola is supposed to be a lot like the fiords in Norway. The British crown ceaded the valley to a group of about 2000 Norwegians back in the 1880s I think and there's still a lot of their decendents around in places like Hagensborg.

I've never been there - I'm a lot further south on the coast.

Don't you look all purty now dressed in red. 8)

Yah, I've never been very political, but it just looks right now. :)

People in Eastern Washington/Idaho have a drfinite accent. ;)

Williams Lake is pretty country. I spent a lot of summers in the 100 Mile area visiting cousins when I was little.

It is nice, there's a bit of everything in a few hours drive. Bella Coola on the coast is my favorite place.
