The authority of the court comes from the nation of the people who support the court, you are absolutely right. This is precisely why people in court are subordinate to the court. If the judge was just an equal, than his/her position would be just as much up for debate as those attending court. Thi... |

*snip* My point for 1 was that it can no longer be used as a source of income for cities and provinces. They only get operational costs. The money leaves the system and is never returned. Once you link the fines to any program that is returned to the lower political entities they will adjust their ... |

However the purpose of the traditions is to establish respect for the court. You can either respect it or be in contempt of it. If you are going to court willingly, you want the courts power on your side, so why would you fight it in some pointless rebellion? The actions and fair ruling of the cour... |

I edited in a couple bits because it better clarifies the issue. In a case where it's your beliefs vs. court tradition, court tradition wins. However, in a case between a court tradition and a religious tradition, the religious tradition should be upheld because this is Canada and in Canada you hav... |

I like all these points. My only counter to foreign aid would be to send the money to social programs or charity that benefits Canadians. I would argue that the act of giving a ticket to punish a speeder is a social program to improve the life of Canadians. Unless the system of speed tickets is jus... |

I swear loyalty to Canadians. I agree, you damn dirty red. Reject all you want. Doesn't make a difference. SHe's still the Queen of Canada, and all legal authority in this country flows from the institution that is her. Yeah the legal fiction that pays lawyers wages that's true. But in the real wor... |

Because many religions dictate a way of going about life and are steeped in tradition and history. Some religions dictate good practices, some are bad, most are a mix of good and bad practices. Either way, many of those practices must be followed depending on your religion. Personally I think most ... |

I will support photo RADAR under a few conditions. 1: The jurisdiction that is operating the PR may not profit from it. They can only recover operating costs, all extra funds will be turned over to the federal government for use in funding foreign aid. 2: Because their is no indication of a ticket b... |

Tell that to Jews and Sikhs, people who actually have political power in this country. I would really like to see a Sikh up on criminal charges in this situation - does that mean his case doesn't go to trial? It means the Sikh will sit in jail for contempt of court until the headdress is removed. I... |

What a waste of time over if you must say some magic words or not.
Good thing witchcraft is still against the law; At least we are protected by the law from people conjuring the devil. |

I think there is a difference between getting someone to remove their ball cap and someone removing a religious headdress. I don't. The head still gasp! has something on it. No difference. I still don't care why morons freak out over having something on your head. But if that's the standard then yo... |

Hate to beat a dead horse, but this absolutely about legal liability if someone gets hurt. It's sucks, but so does life. Darn if only we had some way to shape the laws or legal standards we live under. I'm going to petition my local Count so he can talk to the Queen and maybe change this. I'd say s... |

Well, I still love to run around screaming and climbing on stuff, so I retract that argument  That's how I like to share my excitement when I get a new firearm. I run around yelling "I have a gun, I have a gun!" Then I get to do some parkour with the police as they chase me over the ... |

Birds kill more what? Birds? Maybe? That's fine. Yeah birds are likely the top killer of birds. But that said where would we be without house cats taking the population down by a few billion? I can't help by think we have a balance between birds and predators. They are dying while we progress, whic... |

Public_Domain Public_Domain: The parents, homestly, probably care more about the playground than the kids do. They have smartphones now. Kids still love to run around screaming and climbing on stuff. Until it rains then it's back to gaming. |
