I really have mixed feelings about LED lights. The lower power consumption certainly makes them an attractive option. And my new gadget fascination draws me to them as well. But most of the LED light strings I’ve seen look more like Halloween lighting than Christmas. I’m a pretty stodgy old traditio...

Once your kid grows out of Robeez there’s no better footwear for them than Crocs. Tonnes of bright colours, nearly indestructible and dishwasher safe. What more could you want. A few weeks ago my four-year-old managed to tare the heal strap off one of his Crocs, the rivet broke off at the same time....

Last week I compared prices on LCD TVs on BestBuy.com and BestBuy.ca. The same TVs were selling in the US for 300 to 800 dollars cheaper depending on the model. When I pulled up the web sites on the weekend to show my wife, BestBuy.ca had put all their LCD TVs on sale. Their prices now match the US ...

This isn’t really that serious but it does bug me. Why are the Canadian Television broadcasters so slow to give us over the air HD (ATSC) broadcasts? This morning I emailed CBC, City TV, CTV and Global asking this question, and asking when we can expect OTA HD in Calgary. I’m not expecting answers f...

What would encourage families to have more children? Stop taxing the shit out of us. - Allow income splitting for married couples to encourage more parents to stay home with their children. - Recognise all forms of child care, not just government licensed day care facilities, and allow the same leve...

Female Obliviocity Why is it when a small group of women start chatting they complete loose sense of the world around them? Why are they so utterly unaware that they’re blocking a doorway, blocking a grocery store isle, blocking a bank machine, blocking an elevator, blocking traffic and that other p...

I usually put the snow tires on the car and get the Christmas lights up on the highest parts of the house in October. In a few more weeks I’ll be able to make a huge pile of leaves in the back yard for our son to play in. Maybe one or two more hikes in the mountains before it gets too cold. That’s a...

London I think is a fantastic city. Just big enough, lots of shopping, people are down to earth, huge college/university town so all kinds of hot women all the time. A lot of fun here.

What are the winters like in London?

If you live in a farming community like I do, then you will know this guy is right. I’m seeing a lot of SUV’s and Mini Vans with the farm sticker on them now a days. I’m pretty sure they don’t haul hay or bring a slimy new born calf back to the barn in them. I’ve never seen one with a slip tank in ...

all that infernal language BS just makes it too tedious to live there. Huh? :? Bilingualism in Ottawa is a one way street. It’s all about bending over backwards to accommodate one language. Anglophones in Ottawa really have limited career options. The biggest employer in the city, the federal publi...
