It's not a bad idea but it wouldn't last for long. After a while candidates with similar views would group together and make their own parties and we'd be back to where we started. Good, let them. If while in office a group of individuals, from whichever side of the government, want to form the Coa... |

Under parliamentary self-government we elect individual members of Parliament. And a ministry holds office as long, and only as long, as it commands the confidence of the House of Commons that results. That's why I don't think the Governor-General should have agreed to prorogue. Given genuine doubt... |

I presume you meant "chance" and why not? The people already there are obviously not necessarily the best people. I think no party history would be a relief - no pointless bickering about imaginary lines in the sand. Everyone should have different opinions, but the goal is what works best ... |

No, I got yours and I don't believe personal agenda to be an issue on a national level. If a proposal were relevant to enough of the population it would cease to be "personal agenda". If not, it's voted down or tabled for further consideration depending on priority. Those members who can't... |

I think you missed my point. No more parties, no more partisan doggerel. Do the people we elect have minds of their own or are they party parrots? No two people ever have the same opinion, left or right. The only reason Liberals and Conservatives agree within their ranks is because they're accountab... |

I'm a Liberal because that's where my ideals tend to fall. I'm sure the same can be said for some Conservatives. I realize this might be overly simplistic, but what if we didn't vote for parties? What if we voted for individuals in our ridings that best represented us and had the skills to back it u... |

Agreed. However similar political affiliations do not guarantee like minds. It's a lot like religion that way. Each voice is individual depending on perspective. The best case scenario I hoped for from the coalition was the Governor General to deny Harper's request, force his resignation and a new e... |

all liberals and NDP support the coalition  Wow, that's really small minded. And if you go to a rally, I don't care if it's political or you're parading around an abortion clinic - Leave Your Kids At Home. If they can't spell "coalition", they probably don't care and, at that age, t... |

I'm Albertan. I haven't personally heard anyone seriously talking about separation. It's tongue-in-cheek crap. As for Quebec, I don't believe the majority of their population in inclined to jump ship either.
Like the US has much to offer anyone right now. It's a moot discussion. |

canuckns canuckns: It is getting really old.
I agree and I just got here.
Rather than slinging crap about the past, make a statement for the future. What do we need to keep our country going? How do we keep people working and the money moving? |
