"I'd prefer the best unilingual... blah blah blah'.

And if the best person for the job is unilingual francophone?

I realise that the provincial prisons which house criminals convicted for under two years are the constitutional responsibility of the Province. But you know it's a sneaky move for the feds to advance their crime bill, flaunt the ostensibly low cost when in fact they're just footing the bill to the ...

I understand that French is not spoken out west. That's not the issue. But if someone from out west wants an important job in Ottawa, bilingualism is often required because these jobs have a country-wide importance. People say 'just hire a translator', but then you're paying two people to do what sh...

I wonder how many Bloc MPs are bilingual? Most of them, I'd lay odds. Because out east in places where French is used most often, they still get exposure to English. Out west, we get exposed to French hardly at all. We're more likely to hear German or Ukrainan. Which is why the Liberals will always...

It always has to go to Quebec-bashing. Well, you're ethnic bretheren in Ontario and Newfoundland don't want to pay for the bill either, and why should they? Why should the Federal government be passing legislation it can't pay for? Give your demagogic instincts a rest for a second and think about it...

The English-Canadian in me supports it for lack of any republican zeal whatsoever, but without any attachment to any current or future monarchs. My favourite king is George VI, and has been since long before that movie came out. I collect every piece of Canadian coinage I find with his image on it a...

C'est ce que je propose dans mon dernier article. Plus précisément, je présente l'alternative entre la francisation ou la privatisation de cette légendaire université. Étant plutôt de droite que de gauche, je préfère la deuxième option, d'autant plus que la première est très improbable. Lisez l'arti...

I wrote an article about this very subject in March. It's a good read, if I do say so myself.

Well, we will see. Québec needs some new direction and it won't come from Marois. Heaven help anyone who can't speak french if her government is elected. Why Ken ? What does she have planned, honestly curious. My extent to french media is in the morning while having breakfast and when I see this wi...

80 Muslims would make them about 2.2% of the population of Inuvik, which is somewhat close to the 2.5% of the Canadian population as a whole which Muslims make up.

Why not? What's wrong with the north?

Nunavut is beyond north!

Inuvik is in the Northwest Territories, not Nunavut.

It's far past the time, in my opinion. Fighting Uncle Sam's war for him is not what is going to advance Canada's interest and position in the world. As for our so-called 'allies', they'll bend over backwards to get India a permanent seat on the UN Security Council, but won't lift a finger to secure ...

There is also the risk of backlash. Once something becomes corny, young people tend to notice it and find it repugnant. If we want to protect the memory of those fallen, we need to treat it with a lot less gaudiness.

Je me rends co...
