ehhh, not too sure. I kind of like the idea. but really worry about the possibility of mob rule. I can just imagine someone putting a bill before the house that no one under 35 pays taxes and everyone over 35 pays twice as much. How do you think the internet vote on that would go? Even if you were ...

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Twitter and FB.

Never has so much grief been caused. Off the cuff comments that echo around the world.

Never have so many people found a place to have a voice... with which to potentially hang themselves.

I like the concept of this and the idea of keeping representatives in touch with the will of their constituents. As to weather they should have to step down if they don't automatically vote the way those online tell them to vote, I'm not entirely sure that even makes sense. Sometimes the right decis...

I think the problem isn't so much that morality isn't what it once was it's that the common perception of what is and what isn't moral has changed to something beyond that which the previous generations would accept as such. Some of the examples used in this thread don't even seem to relate to moral...

Revolt is a perfectly good word here. It's a revolt against a stupid unenforceable rule. Thus an attempt to cast off subjugation. From Dictionary Online: verb (used without object) 1. to break away from or rise against constituted authority, as by open rebellion; cast off allegiance or subjection to...

She isn't a black belt and is in the Olympics, she will be squashed like a bug on her first match. Black belt ranking isn't the be all end all of martial arts. I've known plenty of fighters who didn't hold a very high rank in official standing yet could easily stand against those who did. In the en...

The best service I've had anywhere so far has been in Japan. Indeed. I was there in 1983 visiting my brother in Hachioji and the restaurant service...and most everything else, too, was exceptional. And they were being nice to a red-haired gaijing , too. I will agree that most everything else there ...

It was a fun time, you never know we might run into each other again.

Maybe Khar won't monopolize the conversation as much. :P

Honestly it was nice to meet everyone.

I've had a fairly varied service experience everywhere. In France some of the worst service I had were at upper class restaurants. Went to a tiny pocket restaurant not far from our hotel the first night we were there and the service was wonderful. The best service I've had anywhere so far has been i...

Spell checkers are still a very useful tool but you have to know how to use them. Just because the spell checker thinks that it knows what word you may be trying to write does not mean it's correct. If you don't know where to start then of course you will end up with crap. I can write fairly well us...

And because a lot of the doping rules are bullshit. Marijuana a performance enhancing drug? Caffeine is OK if drunk in coffee, but not if taken as a pill? Etc. Heard a biochemist talk about this on Quirks and Quarks. He says that steroids, for instance, do nothing for a male athlete because he's al...

That being said you don't need a gun to hunt or trap. I'm going to walk out on a well supported limb here and say you don't know much about hunting or trapping. I love that line of non-argument. Just because I've never done it doesn't mean I don't know anything about it. This is the information age...

Crime in Canada, gun crime in particular, isn't that bad and we compare well to most countries. So let's stop the knee-jerking. There are places we could be putting put efforts... some communities and organized crime (including gangs) in particular. Should there be a ban on handguns... no. Open up ...

The best solution when it comes to firearms is to outright ban them across the board and then hand out licenses only to those who can prove a legitimate need for one based on the job they do. Police, Military, Border Security, Coast Guard, Fish and wildlife and related jobs probably qualify. Everyo...
