You know the Harbor Seals population is going up? We kill 300k of the things a year and their fine.
Any real biologist will tell you that the plight of Harbor seals is equal to the plight of pigs.
But of course, it's easier to raise money to save Baby Seals then anything else. |

This would make more sense if it had a variable representing the hours of work one can buy locally with that money.

It's not that wages are too low and it's not that taxes are too high. It's rent.
So what is needed is more places to live in Vancouver and that means either plowing some neighborhoods under for apartments or it means building a cluster outside of the city and attaching a sky train to it. |

| Traveling forward in time is easy. Right now your traveling forward in time at a break neck speed of 1 second/second. Curiously this also shows how little we understand time that this is the best measure of velocity through time available. |

| I like where Hawking talks about humanity can inhabit Gliese 581. Interesting, I wonder how long it would take to hurl a probe over there for a better looksy. It would probably take less then 100 years to get there and start sending some photo's back. But it would look identical to a world shatteri... |

Hawking is getting on in years, but he is pretty clearly right. Extraterrestrial life kinda has to exist due to scale.
It's just the distance between worlds is beyond staggering. |
