The first people to use lasers in combat were the British, during the Falklands War in 1982. They were fitted to various Royal Navy warships to hinder low-level Argentinian air attacks.

It's about time the USN got with the times.

I'm waiting to see the connection between West Texas and the IRA. Maybe they too deserved it. The IRA used exactly the same chemicals, as was pointed out on Sky News this morning. If it turns out that the Boston bombings were caused by the IRA, as many suspect, and the chickens are coming home to r...

Am I the only one to have noticed that tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of the end of the Waco Siege?

According to Sky News there were some concerns about the safety of the plant back in 2006 when ammonia was smelled.

But I don't know why a fertiliser factory was built near a town anyway.

I'm eating a large Ginsters Cornish pasty (and it's a real Cornish pasty, actually made in Cornwall), and washing it down with a pint of Foster's. http://www.ginsters.co.uk/images/productimages/flatlarge/origcornishpasty(1).jpg I've also got a six-pack of Mr Porky pork scratching...

Hot and sunny in Britain could mean temps hitting 15C during a 15 minute break in the clouds between showers I prefer Farenheit. Although in criticising British weather you seem to forget that hundreds of thousands of square miles of Canada is covered in either a thick ice sheet or permafrost with ...

So I guess you fart more than Bart. :D

It's good to to that. It makes you feel emptier inside and less bloated.

A cheap tin of baked beans at 15p is also good for those people who can't afford bottles of bubble bath.

Fascinating food fact of the day. The British are, by a gargantuan distance, the world's biggest consumers of baked beans. In total they eat 444,908,011 tins of baked beans every year. In second place come the Australians, who eat 60,000,000 tins a year, followed by the Canadians (41,000,000 tins pe...

I'm listening right now to what I think is a great song. This was a No3 UK hit back in 1984 for British synthpop trio Bronski Beat. It is a popular gay anthem, although I'm not gay. This is "Smalltown Boy": http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/0/0c/SmalltownBoy.jp...

You flog that term a lot here, hiding your pleasure at seeing Bostonians dieting and bleeding. Transparent. I say again: it's alright you saying that, but then your country wasn't the victim of attacks just like the one which has hit Boston but for almost every other year for 40 years, due mainly t...
