Calgary restaurant, involved in Oilers dispute, under investigation

Well Maurizio, you've had a day to think about this. Did you pad the bar tab, or did you actually serve all that booze.

So first the Oilers try to stiff the restaurant on the bill, then they phone in a complaint when that becomes public? What's a matter, little mens can't handle their liquor? 'Course really, who can expect the double digit IQ NHL crowd to understand the concept of being responsible for themselves.

Well he has a point ... they seem to have an entitlement issues.. I traveled with my sons rep team for years and they obtain that entitlement even at that age.. so they play NHL hockey big deal.. they are the same and should act like everyone else.. Oilers or any other team.. lets have a little class

Thanks Ken - I figured I'd be all alone on this one. It's not just the NHL, but all pro sports and entertainment figures. Hockey players expect to only pay 1/2 the bill, because they attract others to eat at the establishment (weakminded people that is). But they should suck it up if the owner doesn't agree to that. At least one Swedish player seems capable of self reflection when he was given an expensive watch for free: "Once I couldn't afford a watch like this, now that I can I'm being given it for free." Something wrong with our society that the rich get freebies while other people struggle.

There's more to the story and I think the owner has allot to do with it. He's had his hand out for money since the story broke which leads me to think he was tacking on a little extra because he didn't think anyone would notice.

The article is a little vague. I would take it to mean that he served liquor to people who were already too intoxicated, not that he was padding the bill.

I blame both parties here, the players for not negotiating before hand and working out a price amiable to both parties, and this owner who has been known to charge too much from the get go.
Basically ammounts to he said she said though and it's gotten too much attention already.
Of course Hockey players are expecting freebees and handouts, it's been the norm for them since teams started scouting them, and of course the price in a restaurant increases when said restaurant becomes the haunt of the rich and famous

Whats really funny is there was more support in the Hearld for the Oilers than there was in the Journal. I guess Calgarians know this place better than anybody.

Hey can a person get sued for posting court transcripts here, that are available on the web?

If someone is not going to pay what is owed to me, and my staff are being threatened as suggested by this guy, I call the cops in. I sure don't cut them a deal and let them walk out the door and then go crying to the media the next day.
