Now, almost a year after the killings, police remain tight-lipped except to say that investigators and prosecutors didnt lay charges because there was no reasonable prospect of conviction.

FFS why can't they just say that the guard was the VICTIM of a crime and that he didn't do anything wrong in defending himself?

Because that would leave people with the impression that you can defend yourself from crime if you are armed.

Yet if these skells did the same thing to a cop there's people out there who genuinely believe that the cop would be obligated to let them kick him to death instead of using his sidearm to defend himself.

So we are what, supposed to feel bad for her? Sure, of course, it would suck to lose a family member like that. But she really has to accept they were the authors of their own fates and stop questioning if the armored car guy could have done anything different. Why was he armed on break? Because it was just a break, he was still working. Why was he alone? Because someone has to stay in the truck and watch it. Best question of all, why would such upstanding people attack an armed man? Yes when you are drunk you do dumb stuff but not normally stuff you have not thought of or wanted to do or was part of you personality while sober.
