John Nash, 86, the mathematician made famous in the 2001 Russell Crowe movie A Beautiful Mind, has been killed in a taxi crash in New Jersey along with his wife Alicia, 82.

    There isn't an alumnus of any graduate program in economics who hasn't racked their brain proving the Cournot-Nash equilibrium.

    And read the book "A Beautiful Mind"...the movie is WAY Hollywooded, to the point of embarrassingly inaccurate.

    It's damn near impossible to be involved in the sciences and not come across something he helped us to understand. I recall his work in nonlinear differential equations and trying to wrap my mind around it. 8O

    He's been married 3 times to 2 women, so what he does on weekends in leather outfits isn't my business. I'm a modern guy, I don't judge. ;)
