It never ceases to amaze me how completely f*cked up people can be.

They should have it fixed up then sell the damn house. I know I'd never want to live in it again.

    Just TCB.

Why do rock stars like to trash hotel rooms - because they can. I've done demolition, it's a lot of fun. I did it for a positive reason, is the only difference. I think there's a destructive element in most people. Many people enjoy watching a building be demolished - why? Most people are just decent enough not to inflict that on innocent people.

I would never even think of 'renting' out my home for a short period, you never know who will show up and you are taking a complete risk doing so. While I know it isn't this couple's fault and I do not blame them, I am not surprised to be honest.

Ditto. Even if I got the place back in good shape, I would be suspicious of every stain I found afterwards. Where did that come from? How long has that been there? What is it?

As a renter myself (basement room, shared entire basement). I severely dislike those who trash the owner's property. Just makes me look bad even though, while a bit messy, I don't ruin anything.

In the old days it was usually the peeps kids that had the party when they went on holiday. :D

This was not a standard rental it was an AirBNB, which is always pretty shady and stupid. Rent your place out like its a hotel room then what do you expect. Trashed house and pissed off neighbors? Your stuff stolen? Big shock! They too a big risk for some chump change and got screwed. I wonder if insurance covers something like this? I know if I were the adjuster I'd have to consider saying no.

AirBnB's insurance covers the damage in this case.

Otherwise, the homeowner's insurance usually states whether it covers damage from tenants and on what terms.
