Buried deep inside the federal budget bill is an amendment to allow the sale and probable dismantling of Canada's medical isotope supplier. It is the first step toward an expected worldwide shortage in a key ingredient in diagnostic imaging.

    I actually saw a documentary on this yeeeeeaars ago (like.. 10-12ish). Nice to see they got right on that.

    So, what exactly does AECL DO these days? They've failed to bring any new rector types along in about three decades and it is still a money-munching monster.

    It was a bad idea to run for so long selling the product below cost.

    I'm not sure if technetium-99 will be produced by I know the University of Alberta has done something with a reactor to produce medical and scientific isotopes.
