I remember reading somewhere that if Obaa had been born in Kenya and had become president there the headlines would read `Kenya`s first white president elected`
During his first campaign I remember a few articles in which people questioned his "African Americaness" and believe it or not it had nothing to do with his mother. Something along the lines of since his father was Kenyan (and his ancestors weren't enslaved) he didn't "share in their experience".

This was a BIG issue, mostly created by Hillary Clinton supporters in the 2008 primary, around the same time they came up with the birther rumor. One notable example of this was when Rev. Jessie Jackson expressed a desire to castrate Mr. Obama for saying absent Black fathers shouldn't be so absent.
