Or do you two jackasses think that dead people have a right to vote, too?
I notice you mention this purge includes removing the dead from the polls. So you don't deny that otherwise legitimate voters are being denied their basic rights.
Or do you two jackasses think that dead people have a right to vote, too?
We didn't say it was racist Bart. But the article stated that many people who are legitmate voters are also being removed from the lists, and have a very difficult time getting re-instated. The legitimate people being removed are statistically significantally Democrat which gives the impression this is pre-emptive Gerrymandering by Republicans.
One reason why we don't collect sex, age, religion or 'race' information from voters in Canada. We don't Gerrymander.
"andyt" said Oh, we Gerrymander. Look up Gracie's finger. But probably not as blatantly as in the US.
Look up what?
No, we don't. We can't redraw ridings to suit how Catholics vs Slobovians vote, if we don't know who lives where. The worst we can do is cut voters from ridings based on how the riding voted last time.
Or do you two jackasses think that dead people have a right to vote, too?
I assume Florida has Death Certificates. Seems easy enough to cross reference Death lists to Voter lists without including the Living. I will also point out that if someone is dead, they can not Vote.

Sure we do - look at provincial and even federal re-districting over the past decade or so.
Ridings have been redrawn to marginalize voters or create possibilities for additional seats. Look at Edmonton-St. Albert - it was created by cutting apart Edmonton-North by the Liberals in the hopes that they could get two seats instead of one, but backfired because St. Albert almost always votes for low tax conservatives.
Same with Edmonton-Sherwood Park. Most of Beverly and Clareview used to be part of Edmonton East, but they were lopped off and added to a largely suburban/rural riding and now most voters there (how vote left much more often than the farmers to their east) are marginalized by the huge block of votes in Strathcona County. What does someone in Beverly have in common with someone living near Elk Island Park?
It's not as bad on the provincial level because the PCs could always count on the rural vote, but I wouldn't be surprised if some districts get re-drawn between now and the next election now that the Wildrose is a threat.
I really don't see why a routine purge of the voter rolls has to be such a huge disaster. In California, people registering to vote have to provide a driver's license number, a state I.D. number that people can get if they don't want a driver's license, or their Social Security number.
Purging the voter rolls should be a pretty simple task of running all the names and numbers through a system like E-Verify and seeing what doesn't match.

We know who lives there, based on other surveys besides the elector roll. Gracie's finger was added to her provincial riding out of a district that had higher income levels, ie more likely to vote Socred. It's probably where I learned the term Gerrymandering from.

It is not at all difficult to be reinstated as a voter. You can do so online.
The reason the purge is catching up so many Democrats is because four years ago ACORN ran a huge voter registration project in Florida and they fraudulently registered thousands.
In September, 11 (2009) ACORN workers were accused of forging voter registration applications in Miami-Dade County during the last election. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the state attorneys office scoured hundreds of suspicious applications provided by ACORN and found 197 of 260 contained personal ID information that did not match any living person.
This purge is cleaning up a lot of the fake voters that were not caught in the investigations. It is also catching a lot of non-citizens who were illegally registered to vote.

If you are referring to the Census - that is why the information gleaned is 'generalized' and specifics only come out after 90 years if the census. And I've never been asked who I voted for on a Census, even the long form.

Again, those were redrawn based on how they voted, not the colour of their skin or income level, as they do in the US. I've seen examples of a district re-drawn to include a single building of voters who were likely to change the outcome of a close election in the US.

This is not 'racist'. It's an overdue purge of the voter rolls that's also removed 53,000 DEAD people from the rolls.
