Astronauts will abandon the International Space Station, probably in mid-November, if rocket engine problems that doomed a Russian cargo ship last week are not diagnosed and fixed.

Not to be a total dumbass, but what exactly are some of the major contributions Canadians have made to NASA? Needless to say, they do not get much press south of the border.

We get a lot from our northern neighbors and they do it in the best possible spirit, not only in regards to NASA but in many other areas as well. They do get a bit a bit miffed when their contributions to us are discounted as we would if our positions were reversed.
One of the great things from this site has been to educate us Americans about Canadian contributions to our society.
Gee... it would be nice if we had a way to transport crews to the station that didn't depend on the Russians. wink wink.

We should have asked for advice from those who know how to bum rides.

By definition, Canadian astronauts did not "bum" rides. Funds, equipment, and/or expertise were no doubt contributed.

Read the link I posted and you'll see just how much was contributed.
