Wow, the hypocrisy know no bounds!!!

Since when have spending money on low income housing and crime prevention been a waste of money? Didnt Iggy also slam the PM for not spending enough to bail out the economy?

I am at the point where I would rather vote for Jack and dippers than the LPC....just sayin

Sadly, it's true. However, it's just politics as usual.

The government (no matter which party) always announces a ton of spending before an impending election

Different issues, and while you encourage the mass spending, the Harper deficit grows at an increasing rate, I will not be surprise if it passes the level Mulroney hit, all this is going to get cut when we have to recover a surplus. Harper cuts what is needed and spends huge amounts on stuff that will have to get cut because we can't afford it.

Stop trying to find money where there isn't any, we have 1/10th the population of the US but the cons are determined to spend on the same level.

Well, we seem to be doing way better economically than a lot of other countries. But that won't get past your partisan sun glasses.

and how long will that last when we keep spending more than we have, it was getting better and better where we were able to continue spending while killing our debt which would free up even more money on a yearly basis. Now we will just have to cut everything again so we can fix it, I'd rather not go into a pitfall of debt when I have to live in the country for another 60-80 years.

The result of well regulated credit markets, which was Trudeau policy, fine tuned by Mulroney. Chretien and Harper BOTH have equally fuck all to do with it.

Whats that Lemmy to-days chuckle. Mulroney ( the absolute worst) PM EVER!
left the country bankrupt. It was Chrtien fiscal responsibility that brought us back to a healthy economy. Paul Martin as finance minister. Nothing Mulroney did had any influence other than a negative impact on Canada.

    I agree, mostly.

The foundations for a steady financial ship were laid decades ago. Chretien/Martin/Harper to their collective credit, haven't tried to meddle too much, besides the odd silly foray.

The banking/credit situation seems to have stayed out of the partisan line of fire, even though Harper is trying to take the credit before this impending election. All he did is leave it well alone and 'steady as she goes'.

On the plus side he could have brought ideology into it, changed stuff and fucked it up but he didn't.
