OTTAWA The capital might be chattering about who will be the next governor general, but Michaelle Jean's substantial fan club in Haiti would like to see her stay put.

She's done her time... move on, get another non-Canadian who has done nothing for Canada. Bitter..yes.

Have we ever extended the term for a GG? If we have then does she qualify?

I think Adrienne Clarkson got another year because Paul Martin requested it.

I don't think Harper will be doing the same. He will want to put a Tory stamp on the GG's office. No CBC chicks need apply.

If the Haitians love her so much, let them take her. We want Helena Guergis for GG. She's already got the right attitude of entitlement, and will take an embarrassing situation of Steve's hands.

She served well...however, it's time for a new Head of State

I agree martin. Canada has got so used to pandering to special interest groups, especially immigrants, that they seem to have forgot about you guys who were lucky enough to be born Canadian.

 Michaelle Jean's time is up and so lets move on, completely and dump the GG. Enough pandering to the Brits. We are no longer a "colony" so why do we spend the money on an envoy to the Queen?
    Just my opinion!

Pandering to the Brits? They don't give a toss about the Canadian GG. Maybe you should research this subject a bit more.....?

Well, actually I like her and think she did us proud. However we have had our visible minorities and women etc. I really think we have to make sure harper doesn't appoint a partisan faithful puppet to the job.. heaven help us if that happens. We will have to change his name to Napoleon... or maybe Napoleon Dynamite... but then,,,, he doesn't have any skills :)

She's had her turn. Time to move on. Let someone else belly-up to the trough.

Of course you like her. She worked for the CBC, she's an immigrant, she's a patronage appointment, she thinks she's a queen and she's a Liberal. She fits the lefts criteria for the position to a "T".

But none of those illustrious qualifications mean that she was a patronage appointment like her predecessor, does it?
