Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff laid out some broad Senate reform ideas Sunday, including term limits and a curb on the prime minister's ability to stack the Upper House with his own picks.
"uwish" said hum... term limits, precisely what the CPC was / is trying to do. Does this guy ever have an idea of his own?????
You seem to have conveniently skipped over the bit about stacking the Senate with the Prime Minister's picks. The Conservatives are certainly not trying to put an end to that by participating in it themselves.

The only chance the Conservatives have at reforming the Senate is to have enough people in the Senate who support the change. Iggys idea still doesn't go far enough, the Senate should be either done away with or become elected by the Canadian people every 4 years.

How else do we do it? Grab a few homeless guys off the street and have them pick people they want to run over our legislation? There's no other way to to do it....so give it a damn rest.

The Senate can't reform the Senate The Tories can't reform the Senate and Harper can't reform the Senate, not on their lonesome or all together.
The Provinces and the Premiers and the Constitution come into play but you dedicated Harper fanboys are just never gonna understand that, are you? Did he talk about, look into or try to act on important reforms like ? Can that be addressed without Constitutional reform? No, BC, Alta and Ontario are still shortchanged and Atlantic Canada over-represented. Did he appoint any Independents or non-aligned or Opposition Senators? No! He appointed more Tories from the same areas. They aren't elected. Nor is there a Party statement that they should be. They aren't representing a balance of provinces or geographic areas. Nor is there a satement they should. They don't have any new powers. No mention that they should. THERE IS NO REFORM, just more of the same old shit.

You don't get a turn when you criticise all of your predecessors for having done it.
"There it is again.. "They did it, so we can too!"
When will this childish nonsense end?"
it will end when the senate passes bills that the sitting government WAS ELECTED TO DO. It took Harper 4 years to finally admit there was NO OTHER WAY than play the game the liberals wanted. So, done, the senate is now under new management. Stuff will finally get done now. There were 18 vacant seats in the upper house when the CPC took office, from past Liberal governments, that would have been filled within the first two years of office.

No, the senate is doing exactly what it is supposed to do and that is being a sober second thought check. They have done just that. Its not the "Liberal" way. It is in fact the Canadian constitutional system of government way.
How many bills of Harpers were held up or even amended by the senate? A grand total of one? After years of you guys crying about how great Harper was and how much he has done it is beyond dishonest of you guys to cry about how obstructionist the senate has been when in fact had they been even a tiny fraction obstructionist or partisan they could have been thwarting Harper at every turn.
Now lets talk about Harper's first appointment, his unelected little buddy? Not quite the open and fairness he claimed he was all about right?
hum... term limits, precisely what the CPC was / is trying to do. Does this guy ever have an idea of his own?????
As someone who has supported the Liberal party, I hope this guy keeps his ideas to himself and starts representing the party he is head of.
Now I'm going to go read the article.

They plan on initiating this senate reform plan, right after they implement their National Daycare Plan.
And they'll still beat the Conservatives to it!
