Thousands of Canadians had their flights cancelled or delayed on Sunday, as new security measures came into effect for anyone travelling to the U.S. by air.
God forbid that they enact security measures that make sense......that would be profiling, which is worse than blowing up planes filled with innocent people.
Well, sounds like it's time for the airlines and airports to do some serious profiling. Now, before some PC bleeding heart idiot jumps on me for that statement, let me elaborate. In my younger days when I lived in Windsor, I used to go to Detroit quite often, be it for shopping, concerts, sporting events or to party in Greek Town. I had long hair and usually wore a black leather jacket. Everytime I crossed I got pulled over for further inspection, strictly based on my outward appearance. This was profiling, and I put up with it if I wanted to go to the States. See, here's the thing, even though I'm a Canadian, it STILL didn't give me the God-given right to go to the US. Was it annoying? You bet, but I also understood WHY they did it. Their job is to protect the border. And you can't effectively protect/defend yourself if you have some bleeding heart pansy telling you what's PC and what's not.
OK great news on what the local NA airporst are doing but the security breech did not happen in a NA airport with NA standards. So if they are not doing anything in Nigeria then even with these moronic new security measures this last terrorist would have got clean through to the US still!
What I want to know is how someone on a watch list, who meets a number of the BIG red flags for possible terrorist, and whose father is practically turning the kid in got a US Visa?
He may not have been on a no fly list but if he was on a watch list in the US, if their system is even bit like ours, his name should be flagged in the immigration system when they call it up.
Again, the security is smoke and mirrors to make people FEEL safe and assure they don't stop flying.

That was my innitial thought too, BUT... He had gotten that visa in 2008, it was valid till Feb 2010, and his dad reported him 3 weeks ago.
Why he was NOT put on a no-fly list when his dad did, is beyond me.
Oh my God we are so stupid...
Al-Qaeda's ideology was to scare the USA and change it's fundamental behaviour, terrorize the nation. It's done that in so many ways.
USA - a Paranoid nation, a paranoid security, a paranoid army!
The war on terror has been lost by the USA.

Agreed. We are such ridiculous and predictable meat puppets for these guys.
Wouldn`t it be great if the minorities came out and asked for logical profiling in order not to make travel life hell for all.

Dominica, St. Kitts, Belize, Australia. Trake your travel dollars to countries that have a real culture and not as Paranoid.
Gees guys there are plenty of other countries in the world worth visiting that have warm climates.

Well said. I definitely prefer anywhere in the Caribbean to mainland USA for my winter holidays away from the snow and cold. Off to Curacao in March.
