Iran approved plans Sunday to build 10 industrial scale uranium enrichment facilities, a dramatic expansion of the program in defiance of UN demands that it halt enrichment and a move that is likely to significantly heighten tensions with the West.
What are they going to do? Export enriched uranium? Just using a quick glance (not actually seeing what type of enrichment or what type of products it makes) the United States has only EIGHT, which is tied with Brazil. This PDF already states that Iran has six under construction, with another ten...(figuring this isn't a part of the six considered) means they'll have sixteen uranium enrichment facilities, on top of whatever normal reactors they might have.
http://www.ieer.org/reports/uranium/enrichment.pdf (where I got the quick list of facilities. I didn't study what each facility does, nor am I an expert on what they would do anyway).
Israel destroys 10 Iranian uranium enrichment plants...
I wonder if a future headline might be:
Israel destroys 10 Iranian uranium enrichment plants...
Hmm, I think you might just be clairvoyant.
So the here is another question, would any world power come to the aid of Iran if say NATO attacked it?
The Russians might, for them its oil and a strategic partner.
Plus anything that pisses off the West is good for Russia.
They have been stalling with Iran for years,
not doing it for now reason.
