I hate our current mayor. I'd vote for a con. We'd probably need the Toronto civil servants to be cleaned out.

How many times can this guy lose? I mean people just don't like him.. if he was liked by Torontonians he would have won the tory leadership..

If this is the competition, you count count Miller re-elected. Say hello to more years of debt and taxes, Torontonians.

    He's a loser. He's lost, often.
But Miller is shite. There has to be better out there than Tory though.

Tory had support of some prominent Liberal supporters in the Toronto mayoral contest during his last run at Miller in 2003.

The problem is, he STILL came third against two NDP candidates
    31% David Miller
    29% for Barbara Hall
    23% for John Tory

people like me just left the city for good, his voter base has been moving out of Toronto for the burbs, and farther  in increasing numbers.

A shaved poodle dressed in a ballerina outfit is a better choice than Miller. As I'm moving to TO in two weeks I'll be able to contribute to the ousting of that loser by making my vote count, even if it is for Tory.

He won't be ousted, even if he voluntarily leaves - Toronto will continue to have an NDP council, with an NDP mayor.

The social demographics are just going to naturally go that way. The CBC elites, the Toronto Star, the various ethnic voting blocks are almost insurmountable even by a Liberal.

Anyone is oustable (it might not be a word, but damn it it sounds good). Just ask David Peterson (okay I might be dating myself with that one).

I pity Toronto... garbage in the mayors office as well as the streets.

Provincial Politics is different. In downtown Toronto, core swaths are NDP. The NDP made some interesting forays into the Jamaican community, Olivia Chow became the Chinese face.

It wasn't NDP immediately after amalgamation. There was an anti-downtown, anti-elitist flavor, which disappeared with Mel's leaving. That was the beginning of the current rot.

The NDP played the best political strategy, they targetted groups. In fact it is remarkably like what we in the Liberal party did in the 1960s and 1970s with Italian, Portuguese and Greek communities.

Abraham Lincoln was no winner until late in life.
