During his years as finance minister, then as Canada's 21st prime minister, Paul Martin always believed that a federal surplus was key to economic stability in uncertain times. Comments

seems that most economists agree running a small deficit during bad economic times is not a bad thing.

revenues decreasing......price of oil falling.
sure is funny how the Canadian economy relies so heavily on resources
Alberta keeping us a float for the last 5 years.
Say what you want about Martin dithering, but he knows the finance portfolio inside and out. Given that Harper & Flaherty has pissed the surplus away, and already had several months of deficit spending this year, the future looks crappy.
I love how you guys always throw in that "pissed it away" description. Really sells your point.
many say spend, spend deficit. Primarily to NDP, but please don't even attempt to suggest the economy would be any better under Dion and his carbon tax.
Im with you on this one boot, Harper made a mistake with the surplus.
So I'm thinking you'd rather do your tour in the Stan in one of these. Rather than what Harper goverment has bought in the last 3 years for the CFs.
Maybe your right, you've been there, I haven't.

Too bad G-Wagons those were bought in 2005, BEFORE your buddy got into office. You should have posted a pic of the $3 billion buses (CC-17) he bought instead...

In addition, they might also mention that by the time Harper got into office they had actually developed equipment specifically designed to fight specific tactics which he was able to buy.

Doesn't the air force love the C-17s?

Lets put asside the money spent sending the GWagon overseas (replacement parts, shipping costs ect). This vehicle is not fit for combat. They all stay behind the wire so the LCol can get his timmies at 0715 instead of 0730.
Right now I am looking across the road:
I see 4x ELAV III (engineer light armored vehicle)
Imagine this with a small blade on the front.
I am not trained to drive this, but I know many people who are and say it is a waste of money.
The 1x Nyala (RG-31) is already being phased out.
This is just what is across the road; in general I support military spending, when it is done wisely.
I'm sure there are other places the military could have trimmed the fat, the FE knife is a wonderful example.
As well as these boots, I have only seen Generals wear these stupid things:
