    The images I've seen on the news are horrible. So many people that had no chance whatsoever to survive this devastation.

    In a way, we're lucky that one of the biggest issues on disaster relief in this country is arguing whether the military should really be involved in it.

    Of course, that's just what ivory tower eggheads like me are arguing about (I personally think they should, if the military can make a positive contribution) but what do people "in the field", particularly the troops themselves, feel about it?

    I have a friend who teaches in Libya. She is ok , but flabbergasted by what happened!
