Smith told a radio talk show Saturday that her sovereignty bill was never supposed to give cabinet such sweeping authority, and says her government wants to make it clear in law that this is not the case.

    I'll continue to operate by the wise strategy that Smith and the UCP are, and always will be, controlled by hardcore extremists. Therefore, nothing they say or do should ever be trusted and the automatic assumption always needs to be that they're always lying. Alberta isn't safe from their stupidity or malice until they're out of office.
