Britain shattered its record for highest temperature ever registered Tuesday as part of a heat wave that has seized swaths of Europe — and the national weather forecaster predicted it would get hotter still in a country ill prepared for such extremes.
New record: 40.2. And the number of new records is also a record. So it's not just one place that set a record, it's a huge swath of the UK, from Wales to Scotland.
It's awful right now in much of western Europe. They are experiencing what we already face in some areas of North America with extreme highs combined with drought conditions. The difference being that they are not used to it... yet.
It's crazy right now that some places are burning while other areas are drowning.
And it will get hotter this week.
