Yeah, they may as well be kicking human skulls about, with the death toll of migrant workers for this event.
Based on the situation in Japan right now they should scrap it for another year. Out-of-country spectators were not going to be allowed anyway. I'm sure the situation will be better next summer.
They should just postpone it until 2024, and bump the 2024 host city to 2028.
Of course that would mean giving up billions of dollars in ad revenues and TV rights, so that will never happen.
OMHO, the only way it should go forward is if everyone (judges, athletes, staff, etc.) are all vaccinated, but I doubt the IOC can resist all the bucks being throw at them.
I don't pay much attention to the Summer Olympics anyways to be honest because I don't care about most of the sports.
While we are at it, we should skip the Beijing Olympics... for health reasons.
I'd prefer we tell China straight up why we're not going - their ongoing genocide in Xinjiang and their kidnapping of the Two Michaels.
China is all about face and if we did that, they'd lose a shit ton of it.
I got no time for the Olympics. Bunch of rich people who have the resources to dedicate their lives to "amateur" sports. The IOC is corrupt as fuck. Don't get me wrong, every Olympics there's a few genuinely heartwarming moments, but it ain't worth all the grift and pomp.
I concur. I stopped watching the Olympics a while back because of it. The only thing I bother with in the summer games is soccer. For the winter games, I'll tune in to Team Canada hockey, and bobsleigh.

I don't care about the bribery. Anyone knows that soccer is one of the most dirty sports out there, but I still want to watch the tournament ON TIME and enjoy it like everyone else.
