I'm assuming he's anit vaccination because he went completely old school on this one. Although, when I was a kid that's what some parents did. None of this antivaxxer controversy for them, it was inoculation by association and it seemed to work, dangerous or not.
Although, I don't think it's such a great idea or practice given that you can prevent your kid from getting these contagious diseases by the simple act of giving them a needle which avoids all the dangers and pitfalls of having them acquire something that could possibly kill them.
But, it's nice to see that the traditional "If it was good enough for grandpa it's good enough for me" ways of disease control are being kept alive. Next stop, bloodletting for keeping your humours right.
One thing about having chickenpox is that you don't get it again and you're not worried about contracting it unlike the people who get vaccinated and then masturbate themselves into a frenzy worrying about 'herd immunity' and whether or not their vaccine will actually work when they need it.

Oh, but you may get the joy of shingles later in life.

Yep had the shingles, started one Christmas eve. Came without a rash, just the severe pain, took the Docs two days to figure it out.

Wife called me Shingle Bells. lol. That's something I say to my loved one. True love is kicking your partner when there're down.
My kids all got the chicken pox. The boys sailed through very mild cases. The daughter had a bad case just shy of hospitalization she was covered spots on her eyeballs her mouth high fever it was dam scary. Don’t understand how anyone could want to risk that or any of the other things we can now vaccinate against

I'd played badminton a couple of times that week and the pain appeared a day later but no rash. Doc said that I'd probably pulled something and told me to rest. My GF at the time put hot compresses on it and that night got the icy-hot out. I screamed and jumped straight up about 5 feet. She told me to stop being a baby. The rash appeared the next day. When I told the DOC about the icy-hot, he laughed.

Yeah, but I won't get the chicken pox again and as an adult chicken pox is a shitload worse than shingles.

I got the chicken pox in the 70's, I was in 1st or 2nd grade age range at the time. It was summer and we were going to my grandparents for the weekend. Some friend of my brothers had a chicken and we were playing with it before we left home. The thing pecked me a couple of times, no big deal. That night I break out in a rash and everyone is thinking I have a strawberry rash / allergy attack of some sort because we were at the grandparents picking strawberries. Yeah farm stuff I know. Well turned out it was the chicken pox. For years I truthfully thought that the freaking chicken had given me chicken pox. Didn't know till middle school that is NOT how you get chicken pox.

Ahh, good times.
Perhaps we can get back to some good old trepanning to let out the bad spirits, too!

I always thought blood letting was a great way to get out the bad humors from inside the body. Can we bring that back also.... PLEASE

Both have a vaccine now.
