And yet another historic B.C. hotel goes up in flames. I don't know if they were a case of insurance fraud or arson, but numerous hotels in BC have gone up in flames over the last decade or so. Some hotel fire in B.C...... Lakeside Motel - Williams Lake 2005.... Keremeos Hotel 2014. ..... Grand Forks Hotel 2012.... BC Hotel - Penticton 2012...... Beaverdell Hotel 2011..... Princeton Hotel 2006...... Three Gables Hotel 2000...... Silver Ledge Hotel 2012.
There are more out there, this list is just from memory.
We had a bunch of historic hotels burn to the ground here in Sacramento back when a corrupt fuck named Joe Serna was mayor.
All of the fires were blamed on 'the homeless' and all of the burnt hotels were historic properties that were in the path of development projects that Serna was backing.
Not saying that you have the same shit going on in BC but it's worth a look to see if the hotels have any common ties like the same developer or construction firms being involved in rebuilding or replacing them.
One fire in particular in New West was the old Dunsmuir hotel on 8th street which burned in 1982. This was during the planning stages for the construction of the Skytrain rapid-transit system. At this time they were looking for a location for the New Westminster station which, since there was nothing left but a hole in the ground, the station was built right there....
