Both of them were trailblazers but it was Timothy Dalton who put an end to the playboy version of Bond and made him into the no nonsense killer that Ian Fleming wrote about.
Dalton paved the way for Daniel Craig and to some extent he also paved the way for Batman to emerge as Christian Bale's "Dark Knight" as opposed to the cartoon character that he'd been before.
