If there is only one choice, it's never going to be a good one.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldne ... -Gaza.html

These pictures don't need any anti-Jewish propaganda to add comments.

Arm-chairing this one, my suggestions;

1) Let the ships in. Arrest them on the way out and well within Israel's waters.

2) Do nothing. Protest to the usual toothless agencies and advise that any further incursions will result in robust military action. The IN has subs.....

3) "Warning shots across the bow" with very big grey warships. They have lots.

4) Anything but rappelling onto the biggest ship in a Hamas led convoy with 600 angry and anti-Israeli people on it.

saturn_656 saturn_656:
Aside from boarding the ships, what other avenues were available to them to enforce the blockade?

If they'd known they were going to meet armed resistance they could have done stuff, but they didn't expect it.

You come alongside. You radio the captain to get everybody below deck. If he doesn't, you megaphone the idiots waiting there topside. "Get below deck, or..."

If they're still waiting there with their slings, pipes, and knifes, water canon them. Land under cover of smoke grenades, and tear gas. Heavy boarding. Two groups - one with rubber bullets. One with live ammo.

That's the way I'd do it. I imagine the Israeli navy has some ideas on how to handle the next one.

And hopefully they'll come to the conclusion that it's not worth it. Whatever the Israeli's reasons for this raid (real or BS), this is nothing but a PR disaster.

Worse still, becuase two of the people killed were Turkish citizens, the Turks have announced that they will be escorting future flotillas like this with their navy.

This a fucking stupid thing to do on the Israel'is part and all it will accomplish is to remind the world that Israel is allowed to get away with war crimes and immoral actions, on ships carrying food and supplies no less.

I don't think they could have been too surprised at a belligerent response from a vessel with 600 'activists' on it. Looking at the various press reports we are now looking at 19 dead. Just wait until the funerals.

The whole thing kind of reminds me of what a PR 'success' for the British Army 'Bloody Sunday' was.

We certainly showed those Paddies what for that day.

The Israeli Secret Service (Mossad), is better than the US and Britian in gather information on covert operations.

So if they say their were arms and protesters on board those ship, I will believe israel over a bunch of terrorist fucktards.

I believe them too trit. It still won't help Israel in the western media, never mind the Muslim media.

It's a phyrric victory for Israel. They stopped the ships but at what cost to Israel?

Zipperfish Zipperfish:
EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Bad planning, bad aim, bad mission. Very reckless and ill-thought out and just a gift to the Jew-Hating media.

Read the National Post lately? Give it a rest wiht the big, bad media picking on the poor voiceless right-wingers. Try googling Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, FOX News and check out the ratings. The "left-wing MSM" trope is getting a little tired.

To be fair Zip, there are some media outlets that are very pro-Palestinian and are not reporting all the facts.

All I can tell you for now is that both leftist Quebec TVA and SRC, without even having ''all'' details, were already favouring the Palestinians in a very obvious manner during their broadcast.

What am I missing in the chain of events?

Lebanon was bringing in missiles, arms, and military expertise from other countries. They were firing missiles into Israel.

Israel but up a blockade to stop the arms getting in.

Activists known for supporting Hamas and Hezbollah put a flotilla of supply ships together, loaded with media, international activists (one Irish broad apparently has a nobel prize), Islamic activists, some supplies, and tried to run the blockade.

Israel stopped them. They dropped Israel commandos on board.

The commandos were attacked. Suicide by commando. The activists might as well have strapped suicide packs to their packs.

The Muslim world and their sympathizers in the mainstream media (turn on CNN) prostrate themselves before the world, and wail for their fallen dead.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
I read the Post Zip. The lone right-of-centre newspaper in the whole Dominion of Canada.

Well, there are only two national papers, so you're batting fifty-fifty there.

$1:
I also read the Globe and the Star, neither of which ever support Israel on anything.

I read the Globe quite regularly, and they've come solidly on Israel's side on a few issues. On others they have criticized Israel. I can't speak for the TV, because I don't watch it much.

$1:
Give it up on the US right-wing shows. I don't watch them. I watch Canadian TV. We don't have a right-wing TV media.

I didn't say we had a right-wing media. I said that you repeatedly say that we have a left-wing media (or in this case Jew-hating" media) and yet present no eivdence at all to support your assertion. So I'm calling it for what it is: unsupported conjecture.

Al-Jazeera did a special on the flotilla's leaving on Friday.

http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/2489.htm

Here's a clip from the transcript.

$1:
Reporter: Despite the Israeli threats and some unexpected obstacles, the arrival of the ships at the rendezvous, in preparation to set sail to Gaza, has kindled the emotions and enthusiasm of the participants.

Crowd chanting:“Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews, the army of Muhammad will return.”

Reporter: Through songs about the Palestinian Intifada, the participants expressed their longing to reach Gaza.

Participant 1: The brothers here are shouting and are full of enthusiasm. They are waiting to leave soon, with the ships around us in the sea. Allah willing, we will make our way to Gaza.

Participant 2: We are now waiting for one of two good things – either to achieve martyrdom, or to reach Gaza.

This is the reason that I love this site CKA. I can read different point of views from members here, both left and right. And from various opinions, make a fair assessment of any particular events.

Instead of only relying on a bias news source, TVA as example previously stated, that usually report their predetermined opinions. As if it were up to them, the cargo got attacked for no apparant reason. There were no weaponry aboard and Palestinians are portrayed in a favourable manner.

But then it's always good to have other sources, they in turn can report some additional details, and from that information, the population can make their own opinions based on real facts instead of biased reports.
