Had the "Bear" really died? Or has it awaken slowly, with more strength and technology?

The Russian Bear is a pale image of the Soviet Bear. It's military capability has decayed substantially since the 1990's.

However, they should not be ignored as a threat to the West. They still don't like us and they will stick the knife in any time they get the chance. That's what they are doing with North Korea.

With Russia disastrous population drop, I don't think it even matters what they do.

And what is it with everyone buzzing around N. Korea, let's not be hypocritical here, how would we like it if several nations, let me think, Venezuela, Iran, and Argentina decided to have war games off the coast of Newfoundland?

I guess in this world, as a small country, territorial rights mean fuck all.

disclaimer: I'm not defending the regime of N Korea.

Come on Sock, the seas around the Korean peninsula are hardly comparable to the Grand Banks.

Korea and that part of the world have been a tinder-box of conflict since before the Second World War.

Comparing the two scenarios is simplistic at best.

You're right, the Korean peninsula is where 4 Empires have been vying for power for the past 200 years; China, Japan, Korea, and Russia.

All the more wonder why they would want to instigate the situation with war games.

At least there's time to grab popcorn this time before it all goes down.

The Yanks could always abandon their allies and sit on their hands.

Bullies like it when you give in without a fight.
