Now if we can get Trudeau to commit some money to our armed forces.

Our forces aren't allowed to play with real guns either.

A good article here:

$1:
Five days into Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his courageous nation have already done more to transform the West's policy toward Russia than 30 years of post-Cold War summits, policy resets and showdowns with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Ukrainian leader's defiance has inspired and shamed the United States and the European Union into going far further -- and far faster -- in turning Russia into a pariah state than it appeared they were ready to go. By promising weapons and ammunition to Zelensky, 44, the West appears increasingly to be drawn into a possible proxy war with Moscow over Ukraine, even though it is not a NATO member that benefits from the bloc's direct mutual defence agreements.

$1:
An embattled Ukraine moved to solidify its bond with the West on Monday by signing an application to join the European Union, while the first round of Ukraine-Russia talks aimed at ending the fighting concluded with no immediate agreements.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted photos of himself signing the EU application, a largely symbolic move that could take years to become reality and is unlikely to sit well with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has long accused the West of trying to pull Ukraine into its orbit.

Russian and Ukrainian officials held their meeting on Day Five of the war under the shadow of Putin’s nuclear threats, and with Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine running into unexpectedly fierce resistance.

And with this stroke of a pen, Putin's propaganda campaign and subsequent invasion did the exact opposite thing that he sought to bring about.

Live update link here from CTV. Lots of information that I'm sure will change constantly.

There are so many protests taking place within Russia and thousands have been arrested yet more and more people are joining in despite this. Certainly they are outnumbering the police.

I'm wondering if we might see a revolution take place there. 8O

It would be that time. Putin has unabashedly strangled their democracy, and most are willing to look the other way, so long as it doesn't affect them. But now it is starting to affect them.

Uprisings happen all the time over the price of bread, and with the Ruble in the tank, bread will get much more expensive. And the wheat for the bread many be coming from Ukraine.

Given how much of the oligarch's money has been money-laundered into North America and Europe, something our own greedy politicians disgustingly refused to investigate for the better part of three decades, it should be permanently seized and never returned to them. Instead it should be liquidated and handed over to Ukraine to repair the damage done when this is all over.

I imagine right now it's high anticipation at US Cyber Command, as the guys and girls at the consoles are just waiting for the orders to start pressing buttons & entering codes that put Russia back into the stone age. It can be done. And, in retaliation for Putin's manipulation of events & movements in the West, it absolutely SHOULD be done. Empty ever single bank account inside Russia with one mouse click. Take every penny from the oligarchs and have it disappear forever into a digital black hole.

As Max Brooks once said on Real Time a few years back, when the depths of Putin's involvement with the Trump campaign became more and more apparent, MAKE IVAN BLEED. Brutality is the only language the Russians understand so slap them as hard as we can.

$1:
"There are charities out there where the money will either A, not get to Ukraine, or only a small portion of the funds will get to the people who need it in Ukraine," added Lupynis.

Lupynis estimates there are over 200,000 Ukrainian citizens living in British Columbia, who are worrying about their friends and family in Europe everyday.

He is advising members of his community that 100 per cent of the funds donated to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Canadian Red Cross will get to Ukraine.

$1:
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress has launched a nationwide humanitarian aid appeal, with all proceeds going to help Ukrainian citizens stranded in their home country, refugees and the Ukrainian army.
