Russia is long past the saving face period. No one in their right mind will sign a deal with Russia as long as Putin is in control. Who is to say after the ink is dry on any contract signed that they go back on their word? Nothing!

If oil drops below $60 a barrel Russian economy will collapse and that will happen when Europe stops buying Russian gas. It may be messy but there is no going back now and the faster Europe transitions the sooner the war ends.

Russia and Ukraine having peace talks is a non-starter. This is a war of annihilation and Ukraine is winning. They will talk on the battlefield and Ukraine has all the time in the world.

It would appear as though Poland likes talking smack now that they are part of NATO. I don't remember them talking a whole lot of smack when they were living under Ivan's boot, do you? The last time that they were talking smack was in 1939.

Yes, I remember Lech Wałęsa. Big, tall middle finger to Moscow right there.

Poland just gave Ukraine a bunch of fighters and armour, and is arranging to buy all new from South Korea. That's how it's done. The US is training UA pilots, and sending them back in F-15 and F-16's. And possibly A-10s. They might be US's cast offs, but they are better than anything Russia has in the sky.

I really hope Germany restarts the Nuclear Reactors it has mothballed. If it can't get gas, it will still need all the electricity it can produce. If they can't, I hope it encourages them to send more mobile artillery to Ukraine to end the war sooner.

Russia cuts flow of gas to Europe, raising fresh doubts about Canada's sanctions waiver

$1:
The exact location of the turbine already returned under the sanctions waiver is unclear. Russian media reported on July 18 that it was on its way from Germany to the Russian Portovaya compressor station.

On Tuesday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov claimed that it had still not reached Russia. "We hope that it will happen... sooner rather than later," he said.

"The situation is critically complicated by the restrictions and sanctions, which had been imposed against our country."

But Siemens Energy told CBC News that the only obstacle to the turbine entering Russia was the Russian government's own failure to provide an import permit.

"The German authorities provided Siemens Energy with all the necessary documents for the export of the turbine to Russia at the beginning of last week. Gazprom is aware of this," a Siemens spokesperson said. "What is missing, however, are the customs documents for import to Russia. Gazprom, as the customer, is required to provide those."

So, Russia is refusing to issue an import permit for this equipment that is 'vitally needed'.

Oh I see, everything will be peachy keen when Europe stops buying Russian gas. Thats funny because a few years back when President Trump was telling Europe to stop buying gas from Russia, he was accused of starting trouble in the alliance. Never mind that the U.S. IS the alliance. We provide the vast, vast, VAST majority of money and manpower to NATO. We had to hear all the smart ass comments from the peanut gallery from countries like Canada that make zero effort to meet their obligations to NATO. You talk the talk, but won't walk the walk. You love waving Ukraine flags, but are at the bottom of the list of providing any real military aid to Ukraine. You tell Europe to get off of Russian gas, yet YOU provide the very turbines required to keep the Russian gas flowing. You have no problem lining your pockets with the blood money that is going to keep the Russian gas flowing. Heaven forbid that Canada should be inconvenienced in the slightest. You talk all this pro Ukraine bullshit than not only do you not provide anywhere near the aid that you could and should to Ukraine, but then you stab Ukraine in the back by sending the turbines back. You want to play both sides of the field. You want to look like you support Ukraine yet at the same time you are profiting from the invasion and enabling the Russian gas to keep flowing. Stop being a fucking hypocrite and a backstabber. It takes a lot of gall to tell Europe to get off of the Russian gas when you are the one responsible for keeping the gas flowing.

The European countries that depend on Russian gas for their survival do NOT have all the time in the world. Some of them happen to be the most wealthy and powerful countries in Europe. Its a very European trait for countries to share their pain with their neighbors. Call it socialism if you will. They like to share the wealth, and the pain. Why should you expect them to freeze their asses off and go without when you can't go without? You could have refused to return the turbines and sent back the money. You could have made a statement and put your money where your mouth is. You wussed out. You remember this conversation come January. When Russia is squeezing Europe's balls over gas, remember that YOU helped enable Europe's addiction to Russian gas. YOU took the money and looked the other way.

There is a difference between Germans taking cold showers and Ukrainians taking steel showers. German economy will take a hit to the GDP but it will not die from the taps being shut off, they will find a way thru the inconvenience and adapt.

You make it sound like going back to the way things were and switching the gas back on is an option at this point. Do you realize after Putin started the war that there was no going back?

Yeah I remember Lech too. He talked some smack back in the day. I also remember the Soviets marched in. They put some Soviet boot in some Polish ass and threw Lech's ass in prison. The main point that I remember is that NO ONE outside Poland did did jack shit to help Poland. NO ONE!!! We tied ribbons, we sold solidarity stickers, we had concerts and fund raisers, blah blah blah. NO ONE DID JACK SHIT TO HELP POLAND!!! No one fired a shot to help them in 1939, and no one fired a shot to help them when Lech's ass was being thrown in a prison cell. NO ONE!!! That is the main point that Poland should remember today. Not many countries in Europe actually like Poland. They are lucky to even have a country these days. They are surrounded by people who do not like them. Do not push the issue would be my advice.

Did you forget we had troops in Ukraine? They fight the NATO way, because we were training them to fight that way. And we've sent them M777's and new barrels, plus ammo. We don't have much, but we send what we can.

Again, you don't have all the information. Germany TOLD us that they would have to stop supporting Ukraine if we didn't deliver the turbine.

Germany warned Canada in turbine talks of domestic repercussions of halt to Russian gas

So which allies do we abandon, Germany, Italy and Poland; or Ukraine? No matter what we do, we are the bad guy to someone. And none of it 'lines our pockets'. Siemens is a German company, doing work in Canada to repair those turbines for Russia.

And Russia still hasn't issued an import license for the turbine.
