2000 dead US soldiers is significant but there's worse. In 1991, the USA killed 150,000 military and civilian Iraqis.

Now there have been from 26 797 to 30 163 death civilians during Bush Jr. Iraq War. Iraq body count

For the medias, september 11 (around 5000 rich people and 2 towers) is much more important than earthquakes in Algeria, Tsunamis in Asia, poverty...

Vietnam was worse, Ho Chi Minh's army was too strong, the French army lost Diên Biên Phu battle and left the indochina colony. The USA made a big mistake by trying to take over the country. They underestimated the Viet minh(french)or Vietcong (US)and they made fun of the French army because they were still using the Clairon in indochina. Now the French army have the FAMAS, nicknamed "Le Clairon", an assault rifle better than a M16 and a AK47.

Of course I'm against any kind of imperialism and colonialism including French colonialism, thanks to leaders like De Gaulle who gave independence to Algeria, he also offered it to French Polynesia but they were in vast majority against it there (the French Foreign Legion is full of Tahitian volunteers). I respect De Gaulle but I can't agree with 100% of what he did. He is responsable of the nuclear testing in the Pacific Ocean, French polynesians had radiations and the population are still pro-France at 75%.
