the list of recent posts gets dominated by one subject and other subjects get pushed off the list
This is the nature of a discussion forum, and this is the intended behaviour. We *want* each discussion to be narrow in focus, and to keep people from straying off-topic.

Our editors are always on the lookout for duplicate postings, but if there are two different articles with two different viewpoints about the same topic, then we shoud strive to post, read, and discuss both to get a fuller understanding.

Thank you for your comments, but we will not be changing the story submission process at this time.
Our editors are always on the lookout for duplicate postings, but if there are two different articles with two different viewpoints about the same topic
OK that explains it quite well, thank-you. I would like to add, however, that two of the articles I mentioned are not much more than opinions on the third and none of the four are opposing viewpoints.

I'm only as good as the material I'm given to work with.
Oh? You have a problem with the quality of material that is being submitted?
I am of course joking.
I just thought I'd bring it to your attention incase you guys had overlooked the point I made. All in all, you guys are doing a terrific job and this site serves as a great centre point for my internet.

Hehehe.

No unfortuneately if we get 4 similar stories, then I'll ethier mush them together, depending on how many submissions we have at the time, or release them individually if they have enough substantially different from each other.

Sometime I get 4 or 5 of exactally the same Rense story, for example, so first out of the gate makes it. Or, like the Kyoto stuff, the 3 similar stories had enough differences to make them unique - and Rev's Column always goes up whatever it's about. Well, unless it another diatribe on the merits of pickleing Polish vs Ukranian sausage. J/K

But we're always looking for critiques and ways to improve things. By all means, keep it coming.

Important and timely!
Perhaps similar stories and both the pro and con positions can stay on the one thread as the opinions of both sides of an argument do now. I when posting have wonderd if i should stay on an established thread of start anew one . Keeping the pro and con on one thread might be advantages. second point
I submited a story that wa accepted then seemed to have vanished.
Most of what you, Jesse and You Dr.C have explained i sussed out anyway. I see Vive as submit and hope therefore when a story isnt accepted i figuare its
as Susan once said(and I paraphrase)
, Your site and if you don't like it ...

All in all i have no serious concerns at this time . Many of my submissions are accepted and for that I thak you all

and when those storis 'get leggs' Hot diggity dawg!
dio
Well, unless it another diatribe on the merits of pickleing Polish vs Ukranian sausage.
In these parts the best garlic sausage is made by a Metis guy who specializes in wild meat. He calls it Ukrainian or Polish sausage depending on which he thinks you are. I don't hunt, so my French/Scottish friend gets it made for me. I then bring it home and feed it to my German/Scottish wife.

Multiculturalism makes me hungry.
second point
I submited a story that wa accepted then seemed to have vanished.
Vanished? It's pretty rare for a story to be deleted. Perhaps it was just moved from 'front page' to 'section'? Click on your name, and you can see all the accepted stories you've submitted.
Most of what you, Jesse and You Dr.C have explained i sussed out anyway. Many of my submissions are accepted and for that I thak you all

and when those storis 'get leggs' Hot diggity dawg!
dio
One thing I might bring to your attention, if I do not accept a story, it's not because I don't think it would appeal to readers; sometimes it's because it's too short. Many other times, it's because it doesn't fit in with Vive's mission. (warming relations between India and China, for example; while important and interesting, is irrelevant to the main section)

Some readers will submit a story that is only a sentence or two, or a link to a video or sound file - and that's it. Short stories like that provide nothing to agree or disagree with, nor enough information to debate. Plus, Vive policy is to quote no more than 1/3 of the article, which may be only 1 sentence.

Some of our readers are still on 28.8 dialup, so links to video or sound are useless to them. I try to find a transcript if I can, and if I can't I reject the submission. Providing at least a synopsis of the linked video would allow those readers some insight.
